  • The Academy....

If this year is about developing the young players then put them in! Admit the year is a write off and let them play. If they are as good as everyone says they are then age should not be an issue

Townsend should never be in First Grade again. Give a young half a crack!!

I've been telling you guys for 6 months that this season is a write off and got heckled for it all off season. The only problem is that our young players were one of the worst NSW Cup teams last years.

      Here is a hypothetical question:

What if the guys in the academy aren’t that good , what do we do then?

That’s not true at all, when they were actually on the field together they beat all the top teams.

I agree to extent although hard to fault tonight given we did debut Toia, Foketi & Losalu… which to be honest I actually all 3 held their own and showed some signs of promise.

Love the shot Foketi up on Haas even if it was 2nd man in, this kid can hit!

The Academies are for youngsters 13 to 15 or even 16- Men's and Women's - Sydney Roosters and Central Coast Roosters i.e Youngsters not at age to play Junior reps whether it be under 16's Andrew Johns Cup through to SG Ball under 19's Men's or Women's Under 17's Lisa Fiaola Cup and Under 19's Tarsha Gale Cup.

Not sure that many realise the players come from across Australia and New Zealand.

Central Coast is a major Junior rep area as well all know as will be New Zealand with the more funding going into the Sydney Roosters New Zealand Academy

They won their last 5 straight including two 50pt beltings, 2 wins against the equal ladder leaders (Bears & Raiders) and beating the Bulldogs who were 5th at the time.

There was nothing flukey about it, they just had a bunch of boys returning from injury at the same time and got a good run of games together.

It's clear your knowledge is limited on this.

They've been completely out of their depth in 3 matches against NRL opponents this year besides Toia that's all I care about. We are ****ed.

My biggest concern with our recruitment is the lack of foresight in having big bodied halves with a long boot and minimal left handed and footed players on the left edge besides Billy Smith who can't get on the paddock. Whoever let Strange go to the Raiders should be sacked. The game is played in lanes in the modern game and if you go through the lists of the better 5/8s most are left handed/footed . Piss Chad off who is finished move Sandon to half on the right edge and give Hugo a run. I'll wear the pain of a lost season if we look to the future but rolling Chad out each week is a waste of time.

Nonsense, you're just using the shortcomings of the first grade side to try and justify your previous ill informed opinion instead of admitting you were wrong.

Salesi Foketi for example was very impressive tonight on debut.

I think the issue with the youth is that we're trying to roll too many out at once, when young players are getting belted by 50 and being absolutely dominated by star players (Such as the ones in the Broncos line up) it can really impact their development because confidence takes a dip and all that.

I think for this year we should've gone with Toia and Steep in the starting 17 and just signed depth players with experience until these other youngsters are ready.

They are the first grade squad now. Whyte sucks, Wong sucks, these other academy guys sucked in the trials and in 3 years time Toia will be the only one still playing regular first grade here.

I just think that Robbos line that we are not recruiting but developing from within is not only a copout but unrealistic as we just don't have the talent ready to go
