    Nahh sorry. Deserving praise??

Robbo's had the whole off season to get this team ready post losing those 6 players

. Then he had 2 weeks after the Knights thrashing to fix things up.

I mentioned on another thread the Baby Broncos Bennett days where they won & had respectable losses while virtually their whole team was unavailable....Also Bellamy's baby Storm's teams have never capitulated like that.

Seems like Robbo cant develop young players into a team....he also couldn't do it with a full squad in recent years.

Trent did well in explaining it all.
A nervous slight and embarrassed laugh when saying "our smarts (the young players thru inexperience) weren't very good."
Said it's the NRL and you need to make good decisions all the time.
Everything he said was considered and well spoken.
Not stoned, just thinking what to say.

Suggest you watch the conference again, with a kinder heart and compassion for his position.

"Compassion for his position" you say.

Poor bloke must have a gun held to his head to coach in the NRL & get paid very very well.

Or maybe his wife can't stand him & wants him out of the house forcing him to coach a proud club like ours & get paid very very well for it.

I am assuming that Coach Robinson was alluding to the following

If the D Line is working and making the tackles then that's the 2nd / 3rd and 4th efforts etc that Coaches look for - Rinse and Repeat - if a player rushes out of the line though it can create 4 on 3, 3 on 2 or 2 on 1 scenarios. Players need to be clear with their choices as rushing out of the D line puts pressure on the other defenders and would be an unnecessary thing to do when your D is coping

The player rushing out of the line will learn from experience that it is a low percentage play and hopefully will know the better option is to stay in the D line.

Even if not actually involved in tackling anyone a player still needs to go up and back in that D Line or the The Living Organism as Coach Robinson famously called it - could be doing this 100 to 200 times a game - Monotonous is a word that may come to mind.

Players were also rushing out of the line on the last tackle on Reynolds kicks - Reynolds then ran and passed the ball which created 3 on 2's and even a 4 on 2 I recall as that defender was no longer in a position to be a defender - last tackle chaos

Or players at maker not being engaged in the next play as you are still a defender when at marker - Bronco's went down the blind sides a few times and the Roosters markers just let the dummy half run -which also created 4 on 3 , 3 on 2 or 2 on 1 scenarios which the Bronco's exploited on both sides. -Defence Disengagement - need all defenders on the same page.

Even in juniors we had marker D training - one marker would go left or the other right - either tackling the dummy half if they ran or tackling/assisting the A Defender as they call them nowadays in the tackle of the player making a run or taking a hit up after being passed the ball by the dummy half.

James Tedesco and Trent Robinson chat to the media after their Round 1 clash against the Broncos

Maybe coach Robinson should follow the way Bennett & Bellamy's results have gone with young inexperienced players filling the role when the senior players our out.

Is there stats to show Brisbane, Storm & Panthers young teams being belted by 50pts while their stars are missing?

Sure but thtats paper facts. Real thing is he's got half a side of rookies the other half have played for a few seasons together.

There were some good signs like our centres. I reckon we hang on smashing the blokes and give them more time to sync. I dont care if we finish stone motherless.....but if we develop a few potential good rookies and don't always have to go to the market to search for talent, then I'm sweet with that.

Need to get that this man is a work in progress.

I doubt very much that the Broncos and or Storm had virtually their whole sides unavailable though - that's stretching it

              Bennet hasn't won a comp since 2010 and Bellamy 2020. - Coach Robinson 2019.

mmm so did you watch any of the Broncos games from 2020 to 2022 though - a lot of youngsters and they copped many a thrashing - 2022 they went from 4th place round 15 to missing the finals - including a 60-12 loss to Storm and 53-6 loss to Parramatta when they fell apart late season - even Wests Tigers beat them - 32-18

Came good in 2023 to make the GF but then went missing again in 2024 finishing 12th

              Roosters

              Missing Round 1
              • De La Salle Va'a *

              • Billy Smith * ?
              • Sam Walker *
              • Brandon Smith *
Add Victor Radley to that list for Round 2 - 6 of the top 17 unavailable

At least 5 of them missing round 1 would have been in the 17 first round if available

Thus the team first Round would have likely have been
              1. Tedecso
              2. Toops
              3. Nawaqanitawase/Billy Smith

The 'last tackle chaos' has been happening for a few years now IMO. We've lost our way at dummy half since Jake retired and we let his replacement go for a second string D/H from the Storm who's best games for them were never in that position. I thought we did better on Thursday with ZDC at dummy half. Watson is more effective when not at d/h especially if Victor isn't there.

Also this is a forum, which I’ll provide the definition for you below in case you are uncertain of what this website pertains to be:

forum - a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Note how the definition doesn’t say “…ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged, but only if you have a coaching accreditation.”

mmm interesting so we have to have the same types of threads started after each game about the same things i.e the usual get rid of the coach and xyx player are rubbish threads. - the old one trick pony and going around in circles scenarios

It would be better if one thread could he created for those inclined so they can rant and vent to their hearts content and leave room for those that just want to discuss football matters in a holistic way without any prejudices or agendas.

                      I think that's fair enough

I’d agree with your sentiment. I would like to see more people re-use threads instead of make new ones - at least until a new season comes around. Every thread seems to go in circles these days which you have inferred to above. I guess that comes with being in a tougher spot that’s we recently have been used to, there will be frustration. There are positives that should be made light of more I.e the debutants performances which probably won’t due to the losing.

At the same time though, I feel like there is actually warranted criticism, and some of the users who post it actually explain their issues with the team which isn’t like the standard same one note posts you and most dislike.

I really do wish that Robbo and the team can dig deep and get themselves out, but until that happens you have to accept that there will be legitimate complaints. You can’t force a forum to be 100% positive and onboard with every decision the club makes.

At least the Broncos had the balls to get rid of the coach for mediocre performances.

I was always a Robbo fan up until late last year. I just think we need to go in another direction. I hope his plan works out because right now there seems to be none.
