Coach Robinson won't be bagging the players or team in Public nor possibly in Private - He will need to install confidence in the team and players going forward irrespective of the results.
I am assuming that Coach Robinson was alluding to the following
If the D Line is working and making the tackles then that's the 2nd / 3rd and 4th efforts etc that Coaches look for - Rinse and Repeat - if a player rushes out of the line though it can create 4 on 3, 3 on 2 or 2 on 1 scenarios. Players need to be clear with their choices as rushing out of the D line puts pressure on the other defenders and would be an unnecessary thing to do when your D is coping
The player rushing out of the line will learn from experience that it is a low percentage play and hopefully will know the better option is to stay in the D line.
Even if not actually involved in tackling anyone a player still needs to go up and back in that D Line or the The Living Organism as Coach Robinson famously called it - could be doing this 100 to 200 times a game - Monotonous is a word that may come to mind.
Players were also rushing out of the line on the last tackle on Reynolds kicks - Reynolds then ran and passed the ball which created 3 on 2's and even a 4 on 2 I recall as that defender was no longer in a position to be a defender - last tackle chaos
Or players at maker not being engaged in the next play as you are still a defender when at marker - Bronco's went down the blind sides a few times and the Roosters markers just let the dummy half run -which also created 4 on 3 , 3 on 2 or 2 on 1 scenarios which the Bronco's exploited on both sides. -Defence Disengagement - need all defenders on the same page.
Even in juniors we had marker D training - one marker would go left or the other right - either tackling the dummy half if they ran or tackling/assisting the A Defender as they call them nowadays in the tackle of the player making a run or taking a hit up after being passed the ball by the dummy half.

They put 50 on us. There can be no praise for anyone. He seemed to be going out of his way to praise though.
Half the team was basically out or reserve grade...playing mostly an Origin standard team.
Referee Sutton seemed to like the other team's playing style more than he did ours.

Trent did well in explaining it all.
A nervous slight and embarrassed laugh when saying "our smarts (the young players thru inexperience) weren't very good."
Said it's the NRL and you need to make good decisions all the time.
Everything he said was considered and well spoken.
Not stoned, just thinking what to say.
Suggest you watch the conference again, with a kinder heart and compassion for his position.

As opposed to Clearly and Bellamy who have had to do it with shit squads and no superstars.
