All good in theory, but you still need to recruit actual superstars. Those kinds of players take years to develop. And you never know which promising groms actually have what it takes.

I can't shake the feeling we're looking at a few long years in the doldrums.

Particularly if Nick has a stroke or something. God forbid.

Dylan Brown now has the tag of signing the biggest deal in NRL history.......yet its debatable he would be in the top 20 players in the NRL?

      Am i underrating him???

Dylan Brown fever is a function of the fact that there is a talent dearth on the market. No way is worth that.

Christ knows who we're holding out for.

Always thought it was Ponga but who know these days.

Any club willing to pay 13million dollars for brown has a worse recruitment dept than us makes me feel a bit better knowing that we’re not the worst recruiting club in the comp

Cooper Cronk halves coach, don't think I would want Sam Walker anywhere near Cooper and I am not having a go at cronk just two different styles of players, Sam plays whats in front of him where Cooper is very structural is always looking two to three plays ahead of play.

I like the balance and maturity N Cleary has in his game. He can keep it simple and shut down a game or pull off a special play when required.

But lately, our forwards have been getting belted.

I scratch my head, how Robinson who is regarded as one of the better coaches in the NRL, has allowed this to happen constantly.
our forwards cant dominate because we use wings and centres for our first three or four hitups. ffs

I have noticed how the young teams seem to be playing up a grade ie Ball eligible, playing Flegg and Flegg playing Cup.

It should also help Trent with his style of play, which I think might of shifted slightly this year. But looking through the recruits in Ball & Flegg, he will get back to bash & barge through the middle.

Trying to turn ourselves into a junior development nursery when we have basically zero juniors seems a stupid move to me. Massive power house football clubs with billions of dollars behind them can manage it as they simply drop huge coin on their junior squads and then are cut throat with kicking out poor performers and replacing them as needed. We can’t do that with the low salary cap.

What’s more, we have always recruited great for our rep sides like HM and SG Ball, so really the only difference here is we are now seemingly targeting all our player development focus on seniors players away from the first grade squad to the reserve grade squad… which is nuts to me.

i mean **** me we had won more premierships than any club in the comp this century up until 2020. No idea why they thought we had to reinvent the wheel

yeah, wouldn't have a problem with a club paying overs for a half, but paying overs over a ten year contract is crazy

His tackle efficiency last year was 97%, despite the fact that defence last year was a weak point for the whole team, and compared to some beloved Roosters forwards like Collins, his running game is much better.

He’s getting his first crack as a starting forward this year, and played a good amount of minutes in the trials. Also, since when did we believe journo’s know anything about player salaries?

Is it with the new teams coming into the comp over the next 5 years accelerated the clubs pursuit of the next crop?

Are they forgoing the next year or two and providing a pathway for the juniors to remain signed at the club?

If every club does the same thing and relys on development, still only one can win every year. So do we just wait for the lottery to strike or do we go to market?
