Roosters circle disgruntled Dragons prop Molo

Lomax played all of his rep football on the wing, played his only good season in first grade on the wing and left St George to play centre. We don't need centres. Next.
Hunt is a Queenslander who wanted to go home. Next.
The club didn't want Holmes or Hunt get over it. Next.
We didn't sign Luai because we have Sam Walker. We didn't sign Ponga because we have Tedesco. We didn't sign Cleary, Hughes, Trbojevic and DCE because they aren't available. We didn't sign Haas because paying a prop an enormous amount of money is dumb. Cronk didn't come in and make us contenders we finished second on the ladder the year before and brought in Tedesco at the same time as Cronk.
You act like signing star players is just as easy as something to do every 3-4 years, since the signing of Fittler we have made 3 genuine high profiled star signings: SBW, Cronk and Tedesco that makes 4 in 30 years these guys don't grow on trees you don't just go out and get a DCE or Ponga like it's part of the big shop.

Holmes' management reached out to the Roosters we weren't the ones chasing him and it took a desperate club like the Dragons to get him. Who wants to allow a a $650k a year player to go get bashed in the off season? That's a dumb move, let's pay you $650k and then you go and get a couple of concussions in boxing. He wants to play centre which he isn't good at either and we have a young up and comer in Toia and Billy Smith waiting to come back. We only offered Hunt the opportunity to play hooker because paying him a huge fee to play halfback when we have Sam Walker on $1m a year to play halfback is another dumb move.
If Holmes, Hunt and Lomax are star players then what are Young, Smith and Leniu? You're complaining about nothing here.

We're allowed more than one good half, not a valid excuse for not signing Luai tbh. The other guys are just names I brought up to give you an idea of what I view as a star player, I wasn't really looking for a rundown on each guy.
Star players swap teams every year but superstars? Not so much. At the end of the day I think we can do a little bit better than Chad Townsend, Mark N, Reece Robson and the guy from Parra who couldn't crack the spoon bowl team, if you feel differently that's okay but the fact of the matter is if we don't recruit and keep saying the team is fine then we'll be bottom feeders forever.

Signing Luai should've been a priority.

We never intended Chad to be playing NRL. He is being paid minimal amount to play Cup and mentor young halves but I still have trouble understanding what he was going to add to what Cronk and Pierce are doing. We have so many young halves Chad would be taking a spot they could fill in Cup.

I know Nick refuses to deal with him and I hope the Suaalii scenario was the final nail in the coffin for our whole clubs desire to deal with him.
I feel sorry for Tigers fans, Moses has been screwing that club over for the last decade.

Bryan Fletcher calls for explanation as Roosters on cusp of signing Terrell May replacement
The former Roosters star has been left baffled by the recruitment strategy of the club.

Roosters great Bryan Fletcher has called for Trent Robinson and his old team to show some transparency with the club's potential signing of Francis Molo leaving fans bewildered. The Roosters' depth will be placed under immense pressure in 2025 with the club watching a number of veteran superstars walk out the door at the end of last season.
The club's retention and recruitment strategy has already been questioned after just one round with the Broncos hammering the Roosters 50-14. Robinson was left seeking answers having watched more than 1,000 games of NRL experience disappear in the off-season. The only signing the Roosters made was that of Chad Townsend from the Cowboys.

And one of the more bizarre decisions was to allow prop Terrell May to leave. May was left stunned when he was told he could speak to other clubs having only just signed a two-year contract extension with the Roosters. Having been told he wasn't in the club's plans for 2025, May joined the Wests Tigers on a three-year deal, worth $2 million.

And the prop showed why he could be a great recruit having played 65 minutes in the Tigers' narrow loss to the Knights and was a standout in their forward pack. He had 21 runs for 189 metres, with two tackle breaks, five offloads and 34 tackles. As for Sitili Tupouniua, he scored a double in the space of six minutes in the second half against the Dragons, while also making 174 metres from 19 runs in a 42-minute cameo.
To make matters more confusing for the Roosters, the club is reportedly close to signing want away Dragons prop Molo. While the 30-year-old could be a decent signing for their depth, few could argue he has hit the same heights as May.
Francis Molo (pictured) is set to leave the St George Illawarra Dragons and join the Roosters.
And Fletcher has called for Robinson to show some transparency with Roosters fans who have been left bewildered with the recruitment strategy since the beginning of 2024. "So you wait all off-season...this is where I'm spinning out," Fletcher said about the news Molo could move to the Roosters.

"Tupouniua and Terrell May...are you telling me all of a sudden you want Molo? How did you not plan for this? I'm saying, you wait all off season, round one...'oh hang on we have some money in the cap.'"
"Just give us an explanation. I think if you are a Roosters fan, you can't just cop, 'Nah we've decided to go in a new direction'. You've got to come out and say, it was because of this reason." While Fletcher admitted the Roosters missed out on some big name signings, including that of Ben Hunt, it wasn't good enough to leave the fans in the dark

Hard to disagree with Fletch in the above article, don't the Roosters have something like 3-4 million dollars at this point to spend? What are we waiting for? Aside from Staggs and Cobbo there aren't any star players available for the 2026 season. Could this be a 2 year rebuild?

Watching the Jam and Cheese podcast from the other day, they touched on the May situation again.
Cheese was adamant that no specific incident occured that led to May getting turfed by the club. Now I know most of the "insiders" on here will point to the fact why would a current player say anything on the contrary... but this Brandon Smith we are talking about. He is open and honest to his own detriment and is known for accidentally throwing many of his mates under the bus, including in this same podcast alone. He has no filter I think even if he was hiding something he'd struggle to contain a straight face at the very least when discussing the May situation.
What he said was that May is incredibly nonchalant and that his attitude can come across as non caring or selfish as he generally only focuses on his own game as opposed to listening in on team video sessions, etc. He said May is a quality human being and one of the nicest blokes in the squad but with the wrong context he can be considered disinterested. He said it all came down to a clash of personalities and that was all it was. Then as he went to elaborate further he obviously realised he was going to be talking against his current coach and still was involved with the club so sort of smirked and said, some personalities just don't go well together.
This I think confirms what I've been saying the whole time. Robbo did not appreciate May's attitude or didn't think he "bought into the culture" of the Roosters. He's the coach, he has every right to make that call. However given we are talking about one of our best performers last year, and now we are looking at bottom of the barrel replacements to fill the void this year (e.g. Molo has his own reported attitude problems), that stubbornness has cost our club and not for the first time.
