This is a diabolically bad side. If Penrith want to they’ll set the NRL era point scoring record on Friday night

            It really is

I bleed RWB and will still be there for the boys but jeepers!!! Remove Leniu, Rads, Butcher and Va'a from the squad and whadda you got? A stack of guys who (respectfully) were only ever signed to play NSW Cup.

Gotta question what value this gives guys like Toia, Mark N, Wong, Whyte, Steep...etc too. Experience is great, but getting 50 points put on you every week? I might as well head down to watch a pre-season rugby game where St Andrew's 1st XV gets belted 60-0 by Joey's 7th's in a 'friendly'.

There's only so much I can buy into the commentary that Brisbane were amazing and ruthless/clinical...etc. To be honest they completely butchered the first 15 mins (ball from right in front off the first play... still let us score first!!!) and last 15 mins of the game. Yet, they still won because we had absolutely nothing. Amongst that they even managed to get a sin-bin with 10 mins to go (sorry but other than JWH, who is THAT dumb when your team is up by 40+ with 10 mins to go?) The Drongos weren't THAT good and Penrith will at very least be a level above them.

IDK. I just hope we can improve and show some ticker. Reminds me of a 400m race I once had where 3 Olympians were in my final and I was knackered because I'd put everything into my heat just to qualify for the final (whereas they'd all gone easy). It was a question of... do I go out hard and then hit the wall with 100m to go, or do I go out slow, get belted from the start and then finish 'strong'? Either way I was gonna come 8th. I ended up taking the 2nd route and then overtaking a guy who went out hard (he feigned a hammy injury when I caught up to him as he was too embarrassed).

Unfortunately footy games go for more than 48 seconds and Easts can't just 'pull a hammy' after 10 minutes to prevent an avalanche of points being scored. Sigh... I just dunno what tactics Robbo can use!!! I presume he's mostly gonna wanna see smart decisions in defence.

Respect to the boys out there who go hard. IMO this will be a massive test of character.

lost a lot of experience from last year, have a lot of good players out, tough times. will be good to see who stands up. unrealistic to expect a victory and so long as they have a go i'll be happy

Theres a medical update today on Roosters web site. Besides Spencer, Victor, Brandon, Sam, Billy Smith and Egan missing, Xavier Vaa recovering from MCL, Reece Foley has had surgery for Syndesmosis, Beniah Ioelu rehabbing tibial bone stress, Paunga has had lumbar spine problem. Nat Butcher and De La Salle Vaa were in hospital for medical reasons. No word on their status. There is already a lot of stress on the roster for top 2 grades

It almost seems unfair but that's sport I guess. Cleary the greatest halfback in the world with Sandon Smith opposite him trying to stop him, a pack of international stars and premiership winning forwards coming up against what is probably the weakest pack in the comp right now.

Weakest bench I've ever seen, you know you're in trouble when a guy that couldn't crack a 15th placed Parra is your most experienced bench player...

Every team list Tuesday I'm going to read our squad in disbelief of what has come of our team.

The bench is the worst I've seen us field in recent memory. Throw into the mix the worse 6 & 7 in the comp and all you can do is hope Penrith take their foot of the pedal and relax at some stage

Well we haven't been able to roll the Riff with a decent outfit, so I guess it's up to the Riff on how hard they wanna go

                        Training run or total bloodbath.

Somehow getting smacked savage in the 1st 2 rounds might be a downer for the rookies or a motivator.

Whatever fellas just play to your best have a crack and can't ask for more.

When I look at those teams on paper, the thing that stands out to me is how superior Penriths coaching, prep and roster management is to ours.

Since their dynasty commenced they have lost players like:
                          Luai
                          JFH
                          Crichton
                          Kikau
                          Lenui
                          Api
                          Burton
                          Capewell
                          Turuva
.Through in others like Staines, Naden, Cogger etc

And looking at their current team, apart from Cleary, no one one screams elite.

So what's the difference? It can only be coaching, preparation ,development and roster management.

Bellamy does the same at Melbourne. Otherwise 'average' players perform consistently at the elite level. Both clubs systems and coaching is just superior to ours. Stating the bleedin obvious I guess.

All I want is a respectable effort. At least try and be more steely when things go wrong, we looked too much like paper mache for most of last week.
                              EASTS TO WIN!
