$2 mill to spend on 2 players that have recently moved to another club.
According to Zero tackle the Storms spine is on a combined total of $3.8 million a year and they still managed to sign Stefano. It shows that it can be done!
I'd love to know where we've spent our money.
Paps $950k
Munster $1.1 mll
Hughes $900k
Grant $850k

Storm do it well stack the spine - best in the comp
a few decent forwards on good money then the rest including the backline and bench on less money then they could be elsewhere
JFH always performs! He's the most consistent Prop I've watched in the modern game. AFB is so hot and cold.
Nah I’d take AFB as well! JFH is a great defensive prop who can play big minutes but guys like Haas and AFB are way ahead in attacking for runs, mts made and PCM

Miles better is a wild claim. Appreciate if you prefer one over the other but the difference isn't that big. And AFB isn't hold and cold, he's just played in a hot and cold team for the past few years.
Reason I prefer AFB is he's got more variety to his game, he can take the first hit up carry and get your set started or he can take the 3rd or 4th hit up carry and create something for your side. JFH turns his back too often on his early set carries for my liking and doesn't offer anything other than hitups in attack which is fine because that's his job as a prop but it's why I have him behind the likes of Joe Tapine & AFB.
Saying AFB isn't consistent is crazy though, really. Bloke is averaging near 150m per game for the last 6+ seasons.

AFB and haas are two of the best mtr eaters and attacking front rowers in the comp
afb was 2nd in pcm Mtrs last year in the comp and 10th in mtrs including all positions
and does this every year
I'm assuming Hunt will play five-eighth as we have Robson arriving next season.
Yea hunt to play 6
would have been perfect for first 12 rounds in any position with walker and cheese out
can’t think of another for the $450k! Maybe front load for 2026
or dare I say it - perfect fit to keep t may
The more I watch the Storm and the Riff the more I realise the players are secondary, it's the system and style of play that is paramount to success.
Sure you need 1 or 2 absolute guns, but end of the day it's the game style and approach. You need everyone in the 17 to be NRL standard (which isn't always a given) and a couple x factors thrown in.
Our game style and approach has been woeful the last 12-24 months.
