Dragons were silly enough to pay Holmes $850k a season. Flanno still thinks it's 2016.

Maybe just choose one as the other spot is taken.

Ponga unhappy on 1.4 million a season ( up to 2027) - 1.1 mill contract and 300k third parties - maybe unhappy that Brown signed a 10 year deal for 1.3 or 1.4 mill a season - not sure that Brown will get any third party deals though.

I actually wonder what they do for these third parties - I remember seeing Tedesco and Papenhuysen in ads -TV/Youtube etc - Not seen Ponga as yet.

Sure you need 1 or 2 absolute guns, but end of the day it's the game style and approach. You need everyone in the 17 to be NRL standard (which isn't always a given) and a couple x factors thrown in.

Our game style and approach has been woeful the last 12-24 months.
As the Blinds and Shutter Dude said as he has something to do with Penrith's Junior reps and Junior League that they Penrith have worked out a fool-proof game plan that some will say is boring and predictable but is rather effective and hard to beat - players from the academies up train and play the same way so no shock to them when they advance through the pathways onto senior reps and NRL.

It's not about razzle-dazzle footy or down to individuals - it's all down to hard work as an individual, knowing your role and working as a team from minute 1 - nailing the basics is the major focus - set completions / minimal errors/competing for 80 minutes week in week out etc.

There is nothing rocket science about it.

Sure, they will train more times and for longer in Senior Reps and NRL, but it also sorts out the players from those who have the potential to play NRL and those that don't based on Penrith's game style, which doesn't suit every player.

There has probably been no better 80 minute performance team than Penrith week in week out that I can remember and that is what sets them apart from the rest. - play for 80 minutes

Grind or Boa Constrictor game as many call but very effective - 4 Premierships in a row which should have been 5 - played like deer's in the headlights in the 2020 GF for 46 minutes - Down 26-0 - ended up 26-20

He's been agitating for a release for a while it seems. Pulled that weird thing last year about his contract with the Knights.

JFH was the cornerstone of the Panthers forward pack that's just won 4 comps in a row. His performance in the 2023 grand final was next level and the best I've seen from a Prop in the modern game.

He bashed the Broncos forward Pack in that second half and swung the momentum back in his teams favour. He used his mind, body and soul to achieve this. There is no stat that measures what he achieved in that game. Seeing is believing!

can’t think of another for the $450k! Maybe front load for 2026
or dare I say it - perfect fit to keep t may
Honestly the Drongos and Pamfers would still put cricket scores on him regardless.

Our current hurdle is that all our forwards are injured or suspended!!!! The list includes:
                  - Leniu
                  - Radley
                  - Butcher x 2
                  - Va'a x 2
                  - Cheese
                  - Probably more?

This leaves us having to get special permission to name blokes who were signed purely to play NSW Cup.

I mean sure one can pull out the line 'NO EXCUSES... IF THIS WAS PENRITH THEN THEY WOULD BE PERFECT AND PLAY NEXT MAN UP!!!'

Really? Say Cleary, Kenny, Yeo, Martin, Leota, Eisenhuth and Sorensen are out, will they beat all comers without a glitch?

Brisbane? Take away Reynolds, Hunt, Haas, Carrington, Hetherington, Piakura and Jensen... how's it going mate? Oh wait we saw that in 2024!!!

People love the 'no excuses' argument but our current toll of outs is an absolute bloodbath. Yes there's things we coulda done better in terms of recruitment and prep, but right now we are at a SIGNIFICANT disadvantage until just a few basics return (e.g. Leniu, Rads and Nat Butcher within the next few weeks will give us a LOT of breathing room).

S*x as fans but man up!!! In Japanese there's a saying that is 'shoganai'... it means... 'there is no ginger'. Right? You open the cupboard and there's no ginger in there. Whatcha gonna do? Kick and scream like a little biatch or move on and work with what you've got? There's no Radley, Leniu, Walker, Cheese, Butcher Brothers, Va'a Brothers... et cetera.

As fans we're in this together and need to work with what we've got. I can only engage with so many childish calls to 'SACK EVERYBODY IN SIGHT'... 'BRING BACK MAY AND SITILI!!!'... 'BE MORE LIKE MELBOURNE / PENRITH'... 'I DO NOT ACCEPT THIS!!!' Cool. I get it. It s*x being in this situation but having a brain aneurism about it every week isn't gonna help anybody.

Sit back... relax... turn the TV off and play video games if the score blows out (unless you're one of those monk-like individuals who can watch us get cricket scores put on us, with a growth mindset... aaah well... one week closer to our next win at least kinda stuff).

We all wanna be winning but right now we're not. There's no quick bandaid solution but it's clear that next year all these newbies will have ~30-50 games under their belt and we'll have Robson at hooker. There's hope!!! But... yep... just like Penrith did for 10+ years!!! Sometimes you've gotta wait it out through the hard times before the good shyte comes.

Flethcher Sharpe looks special and could develop into anything. I think the Knights locked him up for a few years but he must be wondering about his future with the arrival of Brown. Unless
there is an understanding that the Knight's future is Sharp and Brown with Ponga expected to move on. lternatively. it could be a halves combo of Sharpe, Brown with Ponga at the back.

I’m sorry who are the broncos and riff putting a cricket score on? An individual? Well yes I reckon they would

the task was name 2 players you would buy that went elsewhere for $2m
and at the moment we don’t have a good half bar walker who is injured so we will have no attack to round 12
Hunt Would work into our 6 when everyone is avaialable and he would still fit in at 7 or 9 while we have injuries
instead we have Chad Townsend and 4 halves with no nrl experienced

we have played a weakened riff side last year and over the last few years had a decent squad and still got flogged but then so it wouldn’t matter if they were all available
Just keep expecting to get flogged all season
players like young, sandon smith, Wong, rads, and others have not progressed and potentially regressed in the last few seasons

Great ball running half but no kicking game yet
knights have ponga kicking it so might need the fullback to be part of the kicking game

The Panthers play a high tempo game. The speed of which they do things and the ability to maintain that level of speed is key to their attacking playing system.! Their middles tend to focus on hit up and then quick play the balls which limits the time the opposition has to reset their D line.

I wonder if Ivan Cleary prefers his Props to make their metres and have the refs call help asap followed by a quick play the ball. Rinse repeat creating fatigue in the opposition until the D line becomes jagged allowing the playmakers to exploit the weakest link.
