Yes I think people need to realise that the review process is not a court. It's an @rse covering process where the NRL's lawyers just wanna make it clear who is owed a 'duty of care' and get players to confess that they've breached it?

As such while it appears to be an avenue to debate the facts, the NRL have already made up their mind by the time they 'charge' you and their friends in HR will not side with you against them.

This is particularly so in the case of any contact with a player's head. The NRL's focus is on having zero tolerance of any contact with the head so that when sued they can say 'we even banned accidental contact!!! E never allowed contact with the head!!! We are hard@rses about it too!!!'

Cool but I think their fears of US-style mega litigation (which have informed this) are overblown. More likely they'll cop the occasional ~$2m out of court settlement from some random with brain damage and simply cop the damage outta their $1b contract with Fox. Sigh. Bloody NRL!!!

Whether right or wrong, when will we learn that challenging these are pointless.

I couldn't count how many worse tackles I saw over the weekend.

        Fuk the nrl
        I don't think they're corrupt. I just think they're gutless...

Somebody's warned them of the legal boogie man if (for example) a medical breakthrough starts detecting brain injuries while people are alive and they cop a massive class action.

While I get it, I think it has to be balanced out against the reality that accidents happen and it's stupid to be suspending players for multiple games when attacking players fall into tackles. It's just a really nonsensical system that's clearly driven by V'landys' fear of copping penalties like he did with the horse racing industry (wink wink - because he was a dodgy fark). Rather than listening to him as the expert, we should punt him and get somebody who knows their footy better.

don't know what the rule says but he got him flush in the head with his shoulder. desperately unlucky cos it was the hit from our other bloke that made that happen but seems like they don't take those factors into account any more but wouldn't be surprised if they're not consistent in the future

Maybe when players appeal the charge or grading they should be given a heads up "parker warning" first of the possibility of an appeal being successful and thus be given the opportunity to withdraw the appeal for the charge or grading.

Surely some sort of independent body of 3 can look at such appeals. i.e not the Judiciary

this MRC operate like a kangaroo court, if there's a charge then good luck fighting it since they've already made up their mind. Can't look bad to the big boss NRL if they had to reverse the charges.

If it’s a rooster player don’t appeal! A sin bin and 2 weeks for what? For beating Penrith?

HTAF does Luai get one week for his high shot and Foketi end up with two weeks. I didn't even think it was a sin bin.

The handbag launched into his tackle. Not even a fkn sin bin. I know he can't hit with force because he is the softest c0ck in the game but FFS.

Foketi only got 2 weeks because he challenged it

IMO they were very similar tackles

Foketi should come straight into the #13 for Rads this week

I agree. I really like what I've seen from him so far. I think he has a lot to offer & I'm excited to see how he develops.

Foketi's debut game against the enemy.

I reckon he's going to smash them and be MOM.

Salesi looks a smart footballer with exceptional ball skills. Let's hope it's not coached out of him.

He's been very impressive. When we pumped Souths in the trial last year when the main squad was on their way to Vegas he reminded me of a young Anthony Tupou they couldn't handle him, haven't seen that style from him yet I hope it won't be coached out of him to be more conservative like it was with Toops.
