This is particularly so in the case of any contact with a player's head. The NRL's focus is on having zero tolerance of any contact with the head so that when sued they can say 'we even banned accidental contact!!! E never allowed contact with the head!!! We are hard@rses about it too!!!'
Cool but I think their fears of US-style mega litigation (which have informed this) are overblown. More likely they'll cop the occasional ~$2m out of court settlement from some random with brain damage and simply cop the damage outta their $1b contract with Fox. Sigh. Bloody NRL!!!
