As we know, Kasey Badger the NRL official has been banned from officiating any Souffs games as her husband Gavin Badger (numbnuts) is on their payroll.

Meanwhile official Grant Atkins who is a life member of the Panthers can officiate their games. R6 mentioned this on another thread and having done some research I am flabbergasted!

Am I the only one that can see a conflict of interest here?

No. I see it as well. It's about time the club (and other clubs) show a bit of backbone and lodge a formal complaint to the NRL.

The whiff of corruption can become a stench when we get served that awful display of reffing that we saw the other night.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Actually Bates, Kasey Badger was the video ref that gave Jye Grey his penalty try yesterday.

Hey Red. In August last year the NRL banned Kasey Badger from officiating Souffs games. Her husband Gavin Badger was working for Souffs as a consultant. The NRL deemed this dynamic to be a conflict of interest! There's info on the NRLs actions available online.

One can only assume that Gavin Badger no longer works for Souffs hence why Kasey can officiate their games again.

I'll email the NRL tomorrow. They are very helpful with these sorts of enquiries.

I'm sure you're right Bates but Kasey Badger was in the Bunker for the Souths V St George game and awarded a penalty try that was dubious at best.

I also saw a tweet from Badger's daughter last week that was revelling in the fact that as a Souths fan nothing made her happier than seeing Easts get flogged at home.

And that's why we hate them.

Atkins isnt a penrith panthers life member, hes a life member of penrith district rugby league for all the junior reffing he did. not the same as being a life member of the club

The club (Panthers Group who own the Panthers NRL team} are associate sponsors of the Penrith District Rugby League Referees Association. They butter their bread!

There's definitely an argument for conflict of interest imo.

Leagues clubs supporting refereeing associations is the norm. Actually nothing to see here. And just because a club sponsors the local association doesn’t mean every ref in the association supports that team.

It's been public knowledge for years, if there was an issue something would have happened by now

Agree that it is the norm.

What's not normally in this instance is that we have a life member of an association that's affiliated with the Penrith Panthers NRL team and they're officiating Penrith games.

Red, for some reason I can't upload files.

The file is being rejected based on it's size. From basic public news articles to YouTube Clips.

Personally I think even anything that could be slightly taken as a conflict of interest should lead to an official not refereeing games for certain clubs.
