I don't think so,Sandon only good game was against Penrith and to be honest he is better suited to the half back position .
If we had a better option at five eight sandon would be playing halfback and thats only my opinion.

I agree halfback will be his spot.
imo he has the best pass in the NRL

I think it's all a bluff to force Manly's hand.

          Nope it's real.

At this stage of his career it's not about money anymore...DCE is a good operator & has set himself up quiet well after footy.

If he stays in Sydney he'll be a Rooster.

Retirement is also an option and he will make a decision on his SOO availability in the next few weeks as well.

If he makes a switch I kinda reckon hell come out way but wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Belmore cause they've turned a corner

Even if DCE was wheeled out onto the field from the retirement home he would be better than Sandon. I can’t stand the bloke, but for the last decade he’s been ranked in the top couple year after year. He also has a far better kicking game, is experienced & would be a leader. We can’t have a team full of kids do another older head to pair with Teddy on that front helps. Also talk of him not playing Origin anymore so his body that’s held up very well should stay that way for a couple of more seasons.

Not sure how many times someone needs to say it but clearly that isn’t the club or Trent’s plan. The fact we went hard at Johnson, then Hunt says they were the preferred option. It may have been to give Sandon another year of development, but they were coming as players in front of him. Not a hope in hell Hunt was deep in discussion with us to play NSW cup or to play Hooker which he clearly stated he didn’t want to do. We are in the mix with DCE & you can guarantee the clubs after him. They aren’t chasing him for 2 years to sit in ressies & DCE isn’t changing clubs to play cup. So delusional & such a fanboy.

Exactly players like DCE don’t come around everyday
there has been little quality on the market the last couple of years

as much as it’s great to invest in youth not all younger players will make it - or become stars so when opportunities arise like Cooper Cronk a few years ago need to take them when you can

What a ridiculous comparison to judge someone in Sandon who has played 33 NRL games and the majority from the bench vs someone in Daley who has played 332 NRL games and 23 SOO and 21 Tests

                        • Yeah but that's he thing if you get a chance to grab a bloke like DCE then you gotta o all in to grab him cause of his experience and ability.

SS doesn'thave that yet but the whole outfit can benefit from DCE. Sure as shit we won't be going backwards.

Mmm, do you live in Tumut? Not knocking country towns, but country folk in such towns are somewhat isolated. Tumut, with a 6 k population, is a place where everyone knows everyone and even maybe related.

Can you prove they were after Johnson though, when everyone knew his body called time on his career?

Hunt was seen as a half until Walker returned and then a dummy half - DCE mmm so you know what the club is intending as far as signings go - of course you don't.

So what if I support the Sydney/Central Coast Roosters pathway for players coming through to the NRL?.

The Central Coast is the Roosters' future - where do you think - Connor Watson / Robert Toia / Blake Steep / Sandon Smith/Ethan King etc., for instance, came from - plenty more like them coming along the pathways from the Central Coast. Men's and women's players.

Most of the NRLW squad are from the Central Coast.

I have high hopes for many of these Central Coast players to progress from the Andrew Johns Cup (Under 16's) through to the NRL, including the women's players to advance to the NRLW from the Lisa Fialoa/Tarsha Gale Cup and NSW Women's Premiership.

You can't keep them all, of course.

I have a very strong interest in and support for the club as a whole, from Junior Reps and Senior-Both Central Coast and Sydney Roosters Men's and Women's through to NRL/NRLW.

Too many on here like you write players off with this wanting instant success mentality if the team loses. Want them gone, and the coach sacked bollocks we have to continually endure.

I would very much doubt your interest in the club extends past the NRL.

A fairer comparison would be both players at 22 years old.

DCE: Grand Final Winner, International Debut for Australia, Rookie Of The Year

Sandon Smith: Has struggled to crack the first grade team, has strung a few solid performances over 2 years.

                              100%.

I don't think we need to put everything into the youth, Sam Walker is still young and has room to continue to develop into a world class halfback but I think hoping Sandon Smith can emulate that is incredibly hopeful. Apparently we have a ton of great young halves coming through, get DCE in for 2 seasons, have him be a mentor to the halves and help prepare his successor, Sandon can be injury cover.

I think people such as Salvo aren't realising the kind of upside that a player like DCE brings. If we could sign DCE for next season and secure a good winger or centre and a good experienced prop forward then we likely become premiership favourites along with the Storm for season 2026. If we stick with Sandon then at best we might snag the final places in the top 8 for next year.

Plus, from a business and money perspective a superstar of the game like DCE usually does lead to an increase in revenue.
