I wonder if DCE will still want to come to us the way we are playing? I am sure he will not want to be associated with a bottom of the ladder outfit.Last edited by easternboy; 03-31-2025, 01:10 AM.

I'm sure Sam would be chuffed playing alongside a fellow Qlder and quality half that will take him under his wing.

It will be interesting when Sam Walker comes back to see how the intended starting halves combo of Sam Walker and Sandon Smith goes before making any rash judgments on either player. Sandon has all the weight on his shoulders and why Chad Townsend needs to contribute more than he currently is in being the more experienced half - currently mainly passing and kicking.
Chad had 1 run for 3 metres vs Titans - 5 for 38 vs Warriors - 7 for 42 vs Penrith - 3 for 19 vs Broncos.
Sure, he is not a noted runner of the ball, but his role is to get the right-side attack going, as Robert Toia and Dom Young hardly see any decent ball - Dom is a 20-plus try a season winger that needs to be utilised more, as does Robert in attack.
It's not all doom and gloom though, as apart from the Broncos' game, they were in the other three matches - winning 1 vs Penrith and losing 2 vs Warriors and Titans - poor second-half set completions and errors cruelled their chances in both those losses to Warriors and Titans.
They really need to nail those basics, starting with set completions. - vs Titans 75% first half with 7 errors and 39% in the second half with 12 errors. - Never going to win a game with those second half stats no matter who is in the side.
Of course, people forget Brad Fittler's intercept of an Andrew Johns pass in the 2000 preliminary final - a turning point in that game - even the best can throw those intercept passes and that was a much bigger game.Last edited by King Salvo; 03-31-2025, 10:05 AM.

DCE knows that.

1. I don't think Sandon Smith has all of the weight on his shoulders, the game against the Warriors when we were desperately trying to get back into the game and secure a win it was Tedesco and Chad trying to get us back into the game whilst Sandon didn't really do anything, Townsend was actually one of our better players in that game. Against the Titans Sandon did try his hand a bit more and failed
2. The best players do indeed make mistakes like Joey did 25 years ago but he made up for it the following year with a competition win. Also, it was very rare that Joey would have a shit game unlike Sandon where it is rare that he has a good one.

DCE knows that.
Couple of things:

His decision making is appalling which constantly puts us under pressure and let's the opposition off the hook.
