Deep in the first half, when Marky Mark chipped the ball and regathered it only to put it down after his feet had already slid over the dead ball line, the criminal ref sent it to the bunker.

Quite obviously, the try was not awarded because everyone saw that he'd already gone dead in goal.

What they didn't bother to look at was the fact that while he was trying to regather the ball (just as the try line was crossed), he got checked in the back TWICE by Luke Metcalf and had to adjust his run which meant he ended up going dead. Arguably, if he had an unimpeded run, he'd have regathered the ball and would possibly have scored a game breaking try.

Just another example of the criminal collusion between referees and the bunker.

I have to disagree with you there.

I could mount a case that Metcalf grappled/pushed Marky Mark before he touched the ball. Either that, or it was simultaneous.

Just came to post after reading an rti Le in the SMH re Marky Mark where they showed that footage. No surprise to see this thread. In light of how easily they have given away more penalty tries this year compared to the last two years already - it was worth some commentary at least. But you can’t get that from Fox as they weren’t there. They even missed Hugo’s first stint with Warren Smith asking when he would be on after he had been on.
