I'm not totally convinced DCE is the answer but he is a huge upgrade on what we have and we have the money to spend. If he costs us Rodwell and or Jake Elliot then I'm not for it. But if Sandon doesn't turn his 1 good game in 4 or 5 by season's end into 2 out of 3 games then he might be heading for the exit door.

You cherry pick talking points to suit your agenda. DCE has been a great player for Manly especially past 3 or 4 years but Manly dont have the cattle or luck with injuries to compete with the big 2 teams of the past few years.

Plus there are about 4 or 5 1 million dollar playmates but only 1 has won the comp in the past 4 years and only 2 current starting 7s have won a comp in the past 8 years and before that you go back to Chad lol...

I wouldn't but I have a good mate down here who is a tragic lifetime Rooster since 72 and he thinks we will win the spoon. He is not a gambler but when he saw the betting markets re the spoon he thought our odds for the spoon are very tasty.

He is an actuary and has a masters in business as well a great number cruncher. He thought the odds were really good considering our line up this year in the spine before Sam and maybe the Cheeee return.

I'm not expecting instant success and can tolerate a poor season for the team iftyounger players show signs they will be top flight nrl players. I'm not convinced about Sandon yet and I saw him a couple of years ago in Reggies and he had a couple of poor games in Reggiies.

So I was pleasantly surprised with his first few games in the nrl. But since then he has been very erratic which is somewhat expected of a young half but a good barometer is 1 poor game in 2.

His poor games far outweigh his good games which a lot of young halves experience. But those who do are the ones destined to have a short career in the NRL and play in ESL or reggies. If he learned to play slow and patient at times then he is a chance. He is too frantic and one paced imo to be a regular starting half. I hope I'm wrong but I think Sandon is destined to follow Lachie Lam's path in RL.

The rebuild needs to start in the coaches box and board room , otherwise the same mistakes will keep being made.
To show blind faith in untested rookies only to scramble for another halfback 3 games into the rebuild season is a panic move that proves there is no real faith in the current system.

The magician, multi million dollar man DCE hasn't even fired a salvo in 11 years to get these guys going, and I doubt he will do it and the end of his career when he is nearing 40 with the Roosters.

If you think you are worth $$$ millions as a player, then perform and deliver a premiership for your team.

As for the guys who vote him highly in the Daly M Medals , yeah , all the Manly backline players score the tries , but its dopey DCE who gets the accolades and the Daly M votes.

Go figure - but I think its mostly to do with him being the " teachers pet" or the "Golden Boy" of the journos , and Daly M judges, who really have no idea about football

I am in the minority on this forum who doesn't think DCE is the answer to our halves problems.

Ben Hunt was a bad miss, and at $550k, was great value

But the Roosters have Sam Walker coming back, so 50% of the problem is already solved.

Develop from within, or wait PATIENTLY for another half to become available on the market.

Rather than spending heaps of cash, looking for a quick fix, on DCE, who can end up being dead wood.
