Yes Jack. The questionable comments about Salvo’s wife and MIL were from a different thread a week or so ago and Bates was the poster involved on that occasion. The incident on Friday night was separate. Salvo questioned Matty’s loyalty and Matty justifiably returned serve. I would like to see Salvo back but as Matty said if you dish it out (questioning someone’s loyalty to the team) you’ve got to be prepared to cop it back (if you’ve done similar in the past). So long as it doesn’t get personal or families aren’t brought into it, which on this occasion they weren’t. Still the crack at Salvo’s family from a week or so ago was a low blow and insensitive, especially when his mil is suffering from a serious cancer diagnosis which his wife, and obviously he, is dealing with.

Dom has potential. He has pace, and he is tall. He is naturally athletic.

Unfortunately since joining us though he hasn’t improved in any facet of his game: he is poor whether it’s defence, hit ups or his attacking catches. I cannot recall him making a catch from a bomb like a Tupou or Coates and scoring. Just bats the ball back most of the time and he isn’t good at that either. He also runs sideways, and his stepping/swerving movements are poor. He shirks from physical contact. He also isn’t very footy smart.

He needs to be dropped. Not saying we abandon him completely, but he needs a serious attitude adjustment and wake up call. Finally we have players that can replace him back from injury. If Robbo doesn’t drop him he’ll continue to be a liability on our team.

Yep you are spot on unfortunately. I’ve always been a fan because he has those intangible attributes that you can’t coach. Rapid pace (one of the fastest in the comp) and pure athleticism. But his defence is so poor and you are right, his carries out of our own end are atrocious.

Constantly makes the wrong decisions and hasn’t evolved beyond being a fast winger that gets on the end of plays. A stint in ressies should wake him up. He has so much potential and has the attributes to make him world class. The positive for him is that all his deficiencies can be worked on and I think he needs ressies to work on them. If he kicks up a stink then sell him and let him be a liability with unfulfilled potential at another team.

Billy Smith has shown enough to have a crack at starting and Toia just looks like he needs games and experience, there’s a player in there. Whilst Marky Mark has been excellent in the centres, he’s a winger naturally and I reckon his carries out of our end would be twice as good as what Young offers.

Yeh you are right. In that one game back Billy Smith showed that he deserves a spot. Made some great tackles and scored a try. He still looks a bit slow, but with time he’ll be back to peak.

I also agree with you on Toia. I don’t think he should be dropped. He is already better than Young. He has spatial awareness with the ball in hand. He seems to be quite footy smart as well. Just needs more time and games.

Mark will be a massive improvement on the wing, for pretty much the same reasons as Toia. He also is better in defence.

Gee thanks Jack. Yes you are correct. I would have supported Salvo as I already did on that other thread. I guess that makes me the self appointed moral guardian of the Pen? Drawing in was the wrong choice of words. So I guess Baron is correct and I have no defence. Guilty as charged.

Who's better though? I think Chad's doing the thankless job of steering the Titanic through the North Atlantic. SOMEBODY has to go down with the ship this season.

For Chad I'd say he's happy just to play another year of 1st grade and head off to England/France/retirement (or whatever). Whereas Hugo's got the world ahead of him. I think he's gonna offer more value (and get more rewards) as a utility / fill-in rather than being asked to lead the team around the park with Sandon until Walker returns.

Sal is unarguably as dedicated to the Club as anyone here is and much more than most. True, he is, sometimes, in denial as most also are but apart from that he is annoying, disruptive and provocative and the site needs that. What, are we all gonna sit around agreeing? There are other contrarians but none have the sheer doggedness and thickness of hide that sets Sal apart. Just sayin'.

No issue with him nor anyone else disagreeing with my opinion at all, but don’t tell me that I’m not a true supporter because of it. He behaves like a toddler having a tantrum when he doesn’t get his own way.
