I would rather Rodwell or Elliott ahead of Savala. I cannot see any remote hope that Savala is a long term First grader. I think it is more the romance of a having a local junior that gets him in the game day squads.

How many games has Rodwell or Elliot played in reserve grade?

Neither of those 2 are ready for FG & if they got picked & played against the Broncos they would get carved up & the the Chookpen would unload on them.

According to our website Elliot has played 5 games this year (all 80 minutes) but he did debut last year but not sure how many games he played in 2024.
EDIT: 14 games last year.

just because chad had a shocker last week doesn't mean there's someone who's ready to play better than him. savala's last outing in firsts wasn't good. still, chad had to be dropped and hopefully savala does a good job

I don't think he spent any time in the halves when he came on.
He has a bigger boot than Townsend so that is a start. Pretty solid and he seemed to defend ok too.
Happy to give the kid a go.

i agree but let's not put too much pressure on him. clearly he's been impressing at training - hope he can reproduce some of that

I get the Nat butcher start
we have f all front rowers and Leniu works better off the bench and only carrying 2 props he is staggering having Whyte and Spencer on so at least one are on at a time
otherwise it would have been a bench of Nat, steep and Foketi who are all sub 100kg backrowers
expect big minutes from Whyte and also Leniu
no one else to blame for this then ourselves for letting players go

if Marky N is fit which may not be known to end of week he will walk in for young

also good to see Reece foley and Xavier Vaa playing their first games in nsw cup this weekend
we may need Vaa sooner then later in nrl
