Irrespective of age, DCE is arguably fitter.
Reynold's is one stride/awkward step away from another hamstring .... wait never mind, he's on the side-lines at the moment with a 'hamstring injury".
No thanks - not interested in signing someone that needs constant physio care around the clock.
Welcome to Bondi, DCE !

Lotsa halves (most of them?) are shorter than 180cm. IMO Cronk is not THAT strong compared with Connor Watson... who can play in the forwards. Similarly Cheese (who could be fitter but is an absolute nugget) is a pocket rocket in a spine position.
Keary's not nuggety but I certainly wouldn't wanna run at him. He's proven he can read the game and tackle properly on multiple occasions (having won 3 premierships at NRL grade). IMO he and others simply got burned out. The game changed so much over his career and it's difficult to keep adapting when you're no longer young, you've had injuries and there's not THAT much to gain from launching yourself head first at big dudes (possibly getting head knocks and shyte). Like end of the day if you're a half and your team's allowed a front rower to get multiple runs at you with space and a good step then it's not your job to fill that gap. IMO halves in such positions have a right to tell their forwards to pull their finger out and start making their tackles...
Yes when it's a GF and a guy's gonna score if Cooper Cronk doesn't tackle them with a limp, broken collar bone in his shoulder then you MUST make that tackle. However if it's a regular season game, you're getting scholled and your forwards are being lazy farkers then it's not that HB's job to be running around hyperactively, reading where all the missed tackles will be able making a heap of courageous covering tackles. He COULD, but would be better off saving himself for his kicking/passing role.

If he is banging on about the Roosters not signing DCE, then that's exactly what we should do, to help Walkers development and make us stronger.
He doesn't want us in the way of his dogs winning the comp next year.Formerly Stringaz, from the old Wall!

If given the choice, I'd take the punt on Adam Reynolds rather than Cherry Evans.
Why?
- Reynolds is a stronger team player and will be a better contributor to team harmony which is a MASSIVELY underrated factor in success as a team. DCE is individualistic and divisive
- Better overall kicking game imo, although there isn't a massive amount in it. Reynolds kicks at about a 10% higher conversation rate than DCE
- Price...Reynolds would be cheaper, saving a bit more money for other upgrades/acquistions
- Age - yes, Reynolds is injury prone. But buying a 37 year old is just as much of a risk, if not moreso. A loss of pace with age with DCE's playing style will likely see a sharpish decline in his effectiveness, not to mention introducing an injury risk with age that might make that as much of a gamble as Reynolds anyhow.Last edited by Steakface; 04-09-2025, 01:27 PM.

I suppose on the other hand the Dogs are primed next year and an opposition with a spine of Teddy, DCE, Walker and Robson could be an extra speed hump for them.

some guys fall off at 30 - some start peaking at 30
DCE is only 1 year older then Reynolds and Reynolds is breaking down all the time - he is a ticking time bomb
meanwhile DCE is still playing great and barely misses a game

we are obviously in the way
walker will be fine he and other senior players would be the first they asked
question will be who would play 6 or 7 with DCE and walker as it’s only a season or 2

Reynolds does have the better kicking game and would be a bit cheaper, they are similar age and DCE is less injury prone considerably.
