  • Townsend & Young dropped

Savala rested from NSW Cup on the weekend will come in at halfback and Marky Mark who returns from calf tightness to replace Young.

Both the right calls IMO. Will be a great gauge after the belting in Round 1.

Great news. Last game really showed house out of their depth they both are in first grade.

I don’t like it when players are dropped and hope they can find form in the lower grades (especially Young, as he has a lot of potential) but it needed to happen.
    EASTS TO WIN!

With Hugo I guess he was always coming in but I hope he's replacing the right guy, Townsend was pretty poor last week but I think overall he has been better than Sandon this year, I remember the game we won against Penrith it was Townsend who was our best half by far and I think the game against the Titans he was also. There have been a fair few games where it has been Teddy and Townsend trying to steer us home whilst Sandon has been ineffective and done nothing. Now the pressure is on Sandon.

As for Dom Young, they best figure out what they're going to do with him as he's with us on a 4 year deal that started just last year.

Sandon is sharp, scored a first up try against souths, has way more upside than Townsend and potential long term future. Dom can improve, think SKD and Lindsay both butterfingers for several seasons and both improved dramatically. I think persevering with Sandon in firsts and Dom dropped for now is the right call.

Obviously Robbo sees them at training and knows their capabilities way more than me.

Not sure about Hugo, to me Rodwell is pretty sparky. Anyways he's in the side and happy to see how he goes over a few weeks.

I feel sorry for Young , but while Billy is fit he should play.
nice to have too many fit backs.

Simple fix for Young stick with your man and forget about any intercepts he may get 1 in 100 if lucky no percentage

Good call and about time. Young looks lethargic at the moment and unsure. He needs to get his defensive reads better and stop zig-zagging side-line to side-line every time he returns the ball for a carry.

Chad was never going to be our saving grace or answer as we all know he was bought purely as depth cover but he is in over his head at the moment and I feel bad for him and the club with the position we are in. You can tell when a player has retirement looming and Chad has the "I'm done and over this" look about him this season. Time for some new lads to step up, so let's what Hugo can do and if not him then Toby Rodwell is the next young blood that can have a crack until Walker returns.

We're not winning the comp so time to experiment and drop these young lads into first-grade and see how they perform.

Where is this information coming? The team doesn't get named until later today.

Why are people feeling sorry for Young? He's a "star" signing on big money to play the wing and has been pathetic so far people are rightfully laying in to Townsend but I expect a lot more out of the guy who is on big money than the backup halfback who is only playing because of Walker's ACL injury I haven't seen a winger play this bad for the club since SKD in 2009. The club should get rid of him from the final 2 years of his deal we cut Sitili Tupouniua and Terrell May early from their multiple year deals we can do the same with Young.

I wonder if Robert Toia will move to the wing or if Mark Nawaqanitawase is getting shafted out wide? I hope it's Toia while he is young because Mark has been great in the centres as is a real attacking threat it would be unlucky if he has to move.

I’ll acknowledge I was wrong when R6 said the other day that Chad would be dropped and I said Robbo wouldn’t pull the trigger as it effectively ends his career. You disagreed and thankfully so did Robbo it looks like.

Very happy to proven wrong in this instance haha.

I’d give him an extended stint in ressies to really drive home the fact he’s got to work on the fundamentals of his game. Get him to fix his attitude and basics. He has too much potential and X factor to get rid of straight away plus he’s signed long term and Toops is not getting any younger. If he kicks stones and sulks because of his demotion then I’d get rid ASAP.

I don’t think Toia goes to the wing, he looks like an out and out centre. Mark was obviously a winger in Union, can see him shifting out there even though I agree he’s been very potent thus far as a centre.

Exactly. We've been decimated there in recent years.

Disagree with you on this. Chad has not been on his game at all.

Here are some stats from todays SMH.
