Broncos stacked that side, but our players didn't get across.
Young shound get selfish, guard the sideline and let others take the blame if tries are scored inside him.
I don’t think they had us for numbers then - need to see a replay - Young seems not to ever trust his inside men in defence and always comes in to help. One pass and they are in. Young never looks anywhere but the second widest attacking player in that try- he ball watches rather than trusting his inside defenders will do their job and stay on his man. Have a look at it again. The only time his eyes move to the outside man his man is when he comes in and of course then the ball goes there - then he looks out and it’s too late. It’s all too regular imo and as a result he is letting in tries every week that should be defended. They didn’t have numbers Young creates the overlap for them.

Marky was 18th man - couldn’t just pull Young as the requirements weren’t met to use the 18th man ie three Hias or an Hoa from foul play I think it might be.

Agree seems to have his D in good order now - making good decisions to come in and shut it down and sticking the tackle when he does.

The Roosters showed tonight that they can go toe to toe with one of the top teams & let you see that we are a very good side minus 6 top notch that left from last year plus 2 guns that are out injured.
Why does it all come together this week but not for the last 4 weeks?
          Chad I suppose?
I think that’s right - combined with a good long kicking game enabling us it create sustained pressure. Ball handling was better tonight from all but one player as well.

          • For how quick young is in a straight line he seems awfully slow turning around to catch his winger

and does not look at the ball runners allwasys like at the playmaker

I would love to see him consistently pull that performance off

let’s hope he can and not just bring that out once off the the season

                • Last night I think besides Sandon of course and Dom to a lesser degree all played well.

Teddy is simply amazing this year and pretty much every year but his longevity of consistently high end performances as he’s getting older is remarkable.

Billy Smith - please stay healthy you are a gun.

Toia seems to have ironed out his D deficiency very quickly and his attacking flair is obvious.

Hugo played like a 10year veteran and his simple but totally effective kicking game was top notch.

Butch so good to see - he is a rooster through and through and always rolls up the sleeves. Gets over criticised in my opinion.

Conner is on fire - we notice when he’s not on the field I wish he could play 80 or had a clone!

Whyte our find of the season.

Foteki will play rep footy - anyone know where his allegiances lie for state or country?

Wong has turned the corner his place in the side is unquestionable - big boy now BB must love him.

Gus is going okay - hands let him down from time to time but he is warming into the season I think we will see the best of Gus again soon - hopefully he doesn’t get a ban for the forearm.

Losalu I know he didn’t play last night but from what I have seen of him in firsts and now a handful of lower grade games might just be the middle we need to add to our 17.

Connor is playing his best ever footy for the club and was immense again tonight.
So pleased to see Billy showing yet again that he’s the best centre at the club; bloody awesome display. Joey who?
Teddy again top shelf and I reckon is still the best fullback in the game.
Hugo played well and has to stay in the team at least until Walker returns. He’ll only improve with more game time.
Spencer brought some real energy and agro when he came on in the first half which was exactly what we needed at the time as the Broncos were starting to get into a groove. I’m surprised he didn’t get a 2nd stint.
Butcher, Whyte, Foketi, Wong and Steep played tough and our defence looked rock solid. How does Collins make it back into the team?
Toia hits like a sledgehammer in defence with some good reads. Be great to see him get some early ball.

Angus was hot and cold and did some stupid shit; Victor looked to be a bit gun-shy.
Dom Young had the obligatory bad defensive read to concede a try, but also had a couple of good hits in there as well. Still ineffective running out of our end. Mark N offers more on the wing.

Except for his goal kicking, Sandon Smith was truly dreadful and needs to spend some time plying his trade with Chad in the lower grades. Walker was dropped after a couple of ordinary games, however his ordinary games were so much better than Sandon has been playing. Completely shithouse tonight. ZDC was better and he played zero minutes.

                    Robbo; well played coach.
I thought Sandon S was tenacious in defence. I’m still hoping he can find his groove in attack sooner rather than later.
                    EASTS TO WIN!

maybe a ploy after a few head knocks to just get through the game?

Yeah but to be objective in attack he dropped it cold 4 times and passed behind Ted in an overlap situation inside the 20 and gave away strip penalty in crucial field position that the Broncs scored from to get them back into the match. There is no hiding the fact he had a Barry Crocker despite his defensive efforts. The intercept he threw never had any hope of getting to our man. It looked to me like a set play that was called and he had it in his head that was the play and threw the pass even though it was never on - on auto pilot - won’t hang him for that but it was horrendous awareness.

                          • Was busy with work this week. Wasn't able to keep up with squad announcements. If Marky N was deemed fit enough to be named 18th man why wasn't he in the 17?

                              • Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but that around the corner pass from Siua Wong to Foketi in the second half while the game was in the balance was absolutely elite..

                                Wow!
