  • Changing my tune on season 2025

I take my hat off to the Robinson and this young team.

I thought the Souths game showed we had real steel. We blew it, sure, but we outmuscled them in that first half with zero ball. We were gritty.

The Broncs game blew me away. A fantastic team win. Brissy are absolutely stacked with talent and we were so solid. Youngsters against a team of stars.

Robbo's punt on crazy eyed Savala and his persistent confidence in Sandon Smith gives me hope that perhaps finally he'll groom some halves.

Still not expecting us to challenge the competition in any serious way, but we are going to build a very solid foundation for the future.

I thought the season was going to be diabolical but I think I'm already wrong about that.

    Good work Robbo.

The players run out there every week with the belief they can win.

As supporters, we should believe as well.

The other topic I've changed my tune on is Billy Smith.

I've always dismissed him but he has been exceptional.

Agreed. I think many of us had given up on him. Lucky the club didn’t.

Yep, agree 100% with this thread.

Apart from round 1, we’ve shown real heart. And we showed last night that rnd 1 was an anomaly.

i also agree with Bonsai that the first half defensive effort against Souffs with 50 sets in our 20 with Cody and Latrell running rampant was something to be bottled up and something to build on.

All without Keary, JWH, Manu, Cheese, Sammy etc.

Let’s give a great account of ourselves against Penrith and Canterbury next 2 weeks.

          Revenge for 03 and 04.

Agreed, the young blokes we’ve got are great. I really enjoy and like most of the players in team. We’ve got the ability and grit to turn up in these kind of games, just need a bit of consistency of a few weeks.

It will come with time, once Sammy gets back in to the team with confidence in his knee we might go on a bit of a roll in the back half of the season

We have to win next week for everyone including the players & coaching staff so we can then build for the game after that.
Winning makes everyone one & everything better.

Yeah, it really depends on the perspective, doesn't it?

On one hand, 2-4 isn't ideal and we conceded 50 in one of those.

On the other hand, we should be 5-1 and have been in every game bar round 1 up to our eyeballs. We've had huge player turnover and the young guys are looking good. We also have some big names coming back later in the season.

The other thing to note is that the majority of other teams look very inconsistent/average. The Storm and Bulldogs are strong, and Raiders look great sometimes. Everyone else is dubious. The Chooks of last night would have fairly comfortably beaten the Bunnies or Cowboys today, based on how they played.

There are still some ways this season could go really positively, especially if we win our next few games going into the bye and Walker/Smith find good form upon their return.

If we can jag a bunch of games before Walker gets back and then go on our usual late season run…we may just make the 8 yet. Which for me would mean we over achieve given my preseason prediction was unfavourable.

I watched the game again yesterday. I really enjoyed it as there was no stress the second time round.

One of the highlights was hitting the pause button when they showed Maguire in the coaches box. That smug look that he had in round 1 was well and truly gone.

It was a great performance from the boys! It highlighted just how important it is having a capable 7. It also helps when one of your Props steps up and say's 'follow me boy'. Nat was exceptional!

We should pump Penrith next round. I can't wait.

                        Up The Chooks.

                          we're tracking better then 2016 .

let's see how we go this week vs panthers , they have to come good at some stage .

gee if we even made 8th place this year , I'd reckon it a staggering success.

Got to give Maguire credit for the way he handled the questions in the presser and praised the roosters to some extent and only blamed his own teams performance for the loss as opposed to where the questions were trying to lead him.

It’s going to be that annoying year I think

win ones we are not expected to and loose ones we should win

We could be 5 from 6

I honestly think our squad last year could have one this year

only the storm seem to be stronger however can be beaten

riff and storm have been our bogey sides however riff have dropped off this year

I would t be surprised if this year is like 22-23 and we go on a late run to maybe sit in the 8

                              however everyone is beatable

broncos - manly, sharks and raiders all very inconsistent
