If the eels beat the tigers then we are running last so I’m lost for words if robbo really believes we’re heading in the right direction

Our current crop of "youngsters" are not that good, they can't even put 2 half decent games together, let alone 2 good games together. None of them look to be standouts or long term premiership winners. I know Robinson has a plan and has had one for a number of years. Well his plan sucks. At best we've been lucky to make the eight the first half of this decade. The next 5 years are not getting any better under his crap plan. What spirit are you talking about? The only wins we have had this year is due to the opposition's complacency. The one good point to our decline is the games are being refereed so badly Rugby League is almost impossible to watch any more. Hope Easts makes a come back before the real Rugby league makes a comeback.
shit coach! shit players! shit plans! shit fans? but no one's happy after a loss ...
what a difference a week makes. yeah, the game v penrith wasn't a step in the right direction but we had a few blokes out and lost butch early. can't win games if you don't have the cattle. do you think it would have been the same if, for once, we could put a fully fit team on the field? the refereeing didn't help.
lucky to make the 8 in all of the last five years? yeah? in 2020 we were 10 points clear of 9th spot in a shortened season. in 2021 we were 12 points clear of ninth spot despite losing so many players to injury. true, in 2022 and 2023 we could easily have missed the 8 - but didn't. last year we were 8 points clear of 9th spot. we're one of only 3 teams to have made the 8 every year.
too early to say but every chance some of our youngsters come good.

Yeah, other than White (who has been in our system for like 10 yrs) all the others have been inconsistent or poor. Foketi is ok without any wow factor...some of the rest are not worth feeding.

how many comps should we have won over the last 5 years? or, at the risk of being unfair to the club, the last 7 years? you look at our roster and other teams' rosters and you'd say 2 or 3 would be a good return. even when we were favourites at the start of a season we were never odds on. storm had a very good team in 2020 and the panthers have had good teams throughout. but it's not just about the roster, it's about who you have fit come finals time. given the injuries we've had i reckon we've done better than should have been expected.

in 2018 we didn't have the gf team to win the comp. you can't expect to beat a good melbourne side when your half is playing with one arm. and yet we did win. one up for the good guys.
in 2019 we had a very good team and we were fit. we wouldn't have been odds on favourites to win the comp at the beginning of the year, which is the same as saying that the bookies were predicting we wouldn't win the comp, but come gf we were favourites and we did win.
in 2020 kyle flanagan replaced cronk and yet we weren't too far off. if we'd flipped a 1 point deficit in the first semi we probably would have made the gf. the loss to canberra that year was our most disappointing semi loss in the last five years, given we pretty much had everyone fit.
2021 was clearly an overperformance but with the quality and experience of the guys we had injured we were never a realistic chance to win the comp.
2022 the first half of the season was an under performance but we came home with a wet sail. injuries at the wrong time meant we were no chance. nothing wrong with a next player up mentality but in the lead up to the game v souths we lost manu and in the game we lost teddy, toops and gus. sure, not making the top 4 meant we didn't have the second chance but we were the team that the panthers would have feared the most. who knows what might have happened if injuries hadn't happened or, heaven forbid, if it had been our opponents who had lost some of their best players rather than us.
2023 was similar to 2022 but with sammy having missed most of the season through injury we weren't in as good form. with the players we lost during the semis it was hard. we had reserve grade 3/4s in the last game, all 4 of them. at that stage we were little chance to win the comp, although we were one play away from beating the storm in the second semi.
2024 late in the season we were a realistic chance to win the comp until we lost sammy and cheese.

compare our injuries at finals time to the panthers who have been pretty close to full strength every year. no surprise it's the fit team that has gone b2b2b2b
