Get the Coffs Harbour bandit on 100% Footy and ask him his thoughts on Ezra's drug driving with no license and nearly killing a 4 year old girl who is probably still suffering injury and/or trauma and whether 9 weeks suspension was suffice. Surely he is more than just a proud indigenous man and has some form of humanity about him too.

If there is blame to be made over the JT vs Spencer spat it lays with the NRL and its business partner tabloid Ch9.

Can anyone who followed the Coffs Harbour case give more specific details about Thurstons involvement? I don't mean gossip but rather court or police findings.

Apparently so. I lived overseas and don't know the details. Certain things would have been published. Were charges laid? People here have alluded to Thurstons involvement in this very thread.

In 2004, several Bulldogs players were accused of sexual assault after a night out in Coffs Harbour. A 20-year-old woman claimed she had been gang raped by six Bulldogs players at a resort on the NSW mid-north coast.

No charges were laid against the players after a police investigation found there was insufficient evidence, but any public assumptions of their guilt went uncontested after the club advised its players not to address the incident.

"It was very serious allegations. I wasn't a part of [the group sex] but certainly we had broken team rules," Thurston said.

"That's the advice that we had been given [to keep quiet]. Everyone was tarnished with these allegations.

"It was a traumatic time for everyone. Obviously, the victim at the time and certainly the club at the time as well.

What is lost in all this, is why did Thurston want to interview Spencer?

There were 17 players to choose from, Hugo and Billy smith would have been the obvious ones, Hugo debuting and having a great game, Billy back from long injury scoring twice, Nat butch, big game, Watson 80min effort, but he chooses a guy, he has had some history with, that played 20min and wasn’t a game changer.
