my understanding is spence called him a **** as he ran off the field when he was replaced (so what) and then thurston came up to him afterwards to either interview him or to ask him what was going on.

thurston calling for spence to be banned for 12 weeks was silly but i'm assuming he didn't attack spence personally and for him it was a question of principle. but you can't blame spence for taking it personally. not to mention that the 8 weeks was over the top, especially cos spence is pasifika. what would have happened if an indigenous player called mam a monkey? if an indigenous team mate called him a monkey and both smiled?
