Given his age I don't think he'll be with us long term. He's just turned 23, next year DCE is likely coming and will play 2 years with us, that means Hugo would need to wait until age 25 to even think about locking down the number 6 jersey.

Odds are we'll retain one of the teenagers who will be happy to wait until age 20-21 for a first grade spot.

I have just read on NRL news articles that Savala is on $85K a season and is free to negotiate with other clubs from 1 November.

If DCE is coming to the roosters, Savala will need to go to another club if he wants to play FG.

Plenty of interest will be shown from other clubs, given Hugo's performance on Friday night.

If we lose Savala , and pick up DCE, that will be the biggest monumental F*ckup in NRL history.

Swapping a up and coming player for an over -the- hill journeyman, and losing $millions in the process.

I’ve seen enough of him to be confident we should lock him and Sammy down as the halves pairing for the future. His other first grade appearances have also been impressive. We should be thinking about developing this young team, not signing DCE for a couple of years. It would be awful to lose such a good player we have developed with so much potential, and a huge boot, in favour of an ageing half using us as his halfway house to retirement. I SAY FORGET ABOUT DCE!

I have to say, as great as his kicking was last week, I'm surprised that the sentiment seems to ebe that he's the second coming of Christ.
He had a good, steady game and kicked really well. He has also played one game starting in the halves, and we have quite a few options for halves over the next few years. No need to rush anything or put on excessive pressure on him.

Are you serious? 15 seasons at one club, 25 caps for Qld Origin and 21 tests for Australia .... a "journeyman"??
