Sutton aside, the sin bins and penalties need to be ironed out. No one has a clue what's going on.
How on Earth Mitch Moses wasn't binned for his high contact when stopping a Try today is beyond me. There were no mitigating circumstances, he smashed him right across the chin, with force and directly. Then they almost umm'd and uhh'd if it was even a penalty. There have been 5+ of these sorts of calls this week, with random things being binnings, and others being ignored. I genuinely feel for coaches and players at the moment, and even though it's a cliché you would have to say it is actually a lottery at the moment.
Sutton pinging Radley for a marginal (at worst) block, and then the very next set, letting Cleary getting away with a notably worse one, pretty much sums up the NRL at the moment.
They need to get it sorted because it actually brings the games integrity into question. I highly doubt anyone is cheating or doing anything adjacent, but it's such a mess right now that you can't blame people for being somewhat skeptical. They really need to figure something out.
Also, binning players for hitting people high when the ball carrier is basically parralel with the ground and has almost halved their bodyweight, needs to go. It's complete nonsense. Taking head knocks seriously and strictly penalising those who tackle high is one thing, but if the defender cannot do anything to avoid that contact and the player is dramatically losing height, it's totally ridiculous to sinbin a player for that.Last edited by BraveTheWorld; 04-21-2025, 10:47 PM.

I was overseas this past week so was able to catch the game on a VPN but no access to the Pen.
We were 2nd best across 80mins but what a disgraceful officiating display from Sutton and bunker. Across the board, woefully inept calls. Makes you wonder is it strategic incompetence? The no sin bin was criminal and then the crusher on Mark in the 2nd half aswell not getting anything.
Awful. Fark Sutton the Mr Bean looking prick. Cheat.

Not necessarily saying the 'result' but would the contest have been tighter (with Penrith far less confident & energetic) if Edwards was binned for 10, Kenny got penalised (there's one try gone) and Cleary was penalised? Remove the penalty on Toops while while you're at it.
One may argue that if this happened we still woulda been smashed and I'm happy to accept that. However, that's kinda the point. We will now NEVER know what woulda happened because the ref took this opportunity away from us.

Sutton’s inept performance/ decisions likely not occurred if the 2 refs were still officiating.
Dodgy V’landys changed all that during covid when he cried poor and now the ego maniac is boasting the NRL is cashed up.
If that’s the case then re introduce the 2 refs to officiate is valid but no all the other NRL idiosyncrasies and rulings introduced at that time was a realisation of being able to skew results in the form of entertainment and drama furthering more revenue as evident of Sutton’s performance and a previous game officiated by Smith the very ref for Anzac Day.

If the criminal ref and criminal bunker saw fit to call Cleary for a knock on or penalise Edwards for "incidental" contact with Tedesco, we go up 12 - 0 and possibly with a 1 man advantage for 10 minutes.
But no, the criminal ref and criminal bunker give the all clear to Penrith who then get a relieving penalty, our player goes on report for a high tackle (though he had the bloody nose) and they score a try.
Suddenly it's 6 - 6 and the criminal ref continues on his merry way.
