Personally I don't think Sandon is a first grader and Hugo had a decent game and an average one, it is the worst halves combination in the league by a considerable distance in my opinion. However, we do have to stick with them because Elliot and Rodwell probably aren't ready for first grade plus it disrupts the team by constantly changing halves around.
I'd keep it Sandon/Hugo until Walker returns and then go with Hugo/Walker.
Don’t ditch Savala, he’s played two games in the halves. One good, one not so good. He will learn. I think when Walker gets back Savala will play much better. S Smith should be the prime attacking half but has done little this year unfortunately.
I blame our coaching and the people advising the halves. It's the same shit Walker and Keary were dealing with for a while until Walker was unshackled and allowed to do his own thing and then we all saw him unleashed and running riot (for example early to mid season last year).
Maybe it's time Cronk steps away and someone else is given the role as the halves specialist because from the highlights of Hugo playing in NSW Cup, where are the attacking runs ? taking the line on ?
I love the fact that he has a good boot, but young-blood, you've got the #7 on your back - you gotta offer more !
Best case - we sit tight with what we have and wait till Walker returns.
Sandon is the one that I've got doubts on because seriously he has been quite average in the last few games.
As long as Sandon goes that's all that matters, may as well have a look at someone else. Once in a while he will have a good run, other than that, doesn't have any qualities that make him a FG footballer. He has a shit pass on him. Even worse kick. Provides zero direction or the ability to play with shape....and defensively is a huge liability. Makes piss weak contact in his tackles and struggles every time. Its embarrassing how many opportunities he is getting but no doubt the club no he isn't up to it and he wont be one of our long term halves
jeez this place changed its tune quick on savala, not sure what some on here expect , he os an improvement on the Chad, bit no we do not have the next andrew johns playing in our juniors , it was always going to be a tough slog until walker came back back and even then he may need 6 or 7 weeks to find form .
sorry people , let's just try to be a little realistic with our expectation on these kids , throwing Rodwell in now , could damage his development as well .

Wouldn’t Holbrook have some input into coaching the halves? He is the assistant coach and a former half.

I think last week had more to do with Walsh than Savala’s great kicking game TBF.
Hugo couldn’t find the grass more than once last night, Edwards was all over it. But aside from his kicking which I think is his strongest attribute to boot, he doesn’t offer much in attack so far.
Or do we give Savala a few more weeks?I think both weeks Hugo has played he has shown zero attacking threat to the line.
Is it time for sandon to get the flick?
Thoughts?
You're weighing up dropping Savala, after 2 games. The first a win where he was excellent, and the second a loss to Penrith.
Good lord. It's not farkin supercoach. You don't just change your halfback every other week. He's a young kid with a bright future. He's played 2 games. Give him a chance for christ's sake.

The Chookpen coaches would change the side every single week if they had the chance.
Don't say a few of us didn't warn how quickly the Hugolove would turn. Just didn't expect it take only a week! The fickle fan...last weeks Rooster is this week's feather duster.
