Yeah, afraid there are 16 other teams also trying to recruit players and win games.
The Chooks have a good crop of players. Most other sides do, too. Can't keep 'em all.

Recognising and retaining elite pathways players especially local juniors needs better focus.

Crystal balls don't exist however, Josh Curran, Jacob Preston and local juniors Moretti and Tallis Duncan should still be wearing our colours.

Tallis Duncan is a Roosters junior?

**** it would have been great to have him purely for the Chewbacca piss off factor!

Josh Curran played 1 game off the bench for us 6 years ago when we won back to back premierships with guys like Boyd Cordner, Mitchell Aubusson, Angus Cap Thief, Isaac Liu in the team with Victor Radley, Nat Butcher and Sitili Tupouniua emerging as youngsters. He's a good player but saying he should still be at the club is pure 20-20 hindsight if we'd have kept Curran and let one of those other youngsters go people would be asking why didn't we keep that guy, nobody could predict midway through 2019 that Boyd Cordner only had 1 year left in the game.

Good point - for every one or two you keep someone has to be let go. It’s not easy - Curran was nothing special till this year and special is used loosely in this instance.

You meant to say cap, but still very good.

Losing good players is the sign of a healthy development pathway system.

Panthers and Storm fans could put together 2 exceptional sides of players who have left their club over the last decade, it’s not an indication of their failures but rather an indication of why they’ve been successful.

Exactly have a look at how many players that went through our pathway systems last decade that went on to highly successful careers with other clubs

The John West theory...its not the ones we keep, its the ones we throw away

I see the point you are making, but its cold comfort to fans when they see fish thrown back in the water thriving in distant oceans.

Yeah he came through our system Clovelly Crocs I think, and won multiple POTY awards.
Our mortal enemies signed Tallis in retaliation for us "poaching" Egan Butcher.

When we signed older brother Nat they swore that would be the last straw.

Uncle Nick returned serve with Suaalii.

                              You can’t keep them all

it is tough seeing players like Preston, Curran, and Moretti go right around some players we have been holding onto sense those days who are now getting looked at for origin

also a couple we have let go who are killing it at other clubs

we seem to be short on quality front rowers and also have a huge amount of middle - edge players who seem to be good but all sub 100kg smaller stature all fighting tor 1-2 positions
