On Anzac Day, poems are recited, songs sung, stories told of the evil and the torture the Germans, Japanese etc inflicted on our soldiers, civilians and country.
Horrific atrocities.
So I hate them.
Then next minute I see Germany and Japan are now our allies against other evil doers in the world who are now our enemies.
Then, after that, I remember that the world is nutz.
Pack my bag and go off to the footy.

Dad was a gunner in the Australian airforce. He survived the war to marry the girl he met for 12 days in the UK. Married for 47 years. Dad died aged 70, mum is 99 not out. Long live the Anzac spirit. The Roosters are therapeutic and the escape from all that is troubled in the world
and one's lives.
Embrace the occasion with reverence and enjoy the match. Playing with passion can get us a win. Go the Roosters.

Let’s carry that Anzac spirit into this game. I expect Teddy to lead by example and put in a man of the match performance.
Today is a day where the jersey means just that little bit more. From the pre-game Last Post to the first tackle, the weight of history should drive every player out there to give it their all.
Let’s rise to the occasion and deliver a performance worthy of the Anzac legacy. And remember one thing, it’s just a game of footy it ain’t war. That comparison would be disrespectful to the veterans who fought.
Lest we forget.
Kick-off 4pm.
Go Roosters!
Good backline ruined by halves who have no idea ..yet... They switch on and we win.Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

My favourite day of the year. No other evokes the spirit of connection, unity, gratitude and what it means to be an Aussie.
Started today attending the local dawn service which is always done with reverence and style. The crowd gathers in the pre dawn dark as you hear the faint sounds of the marching band playing "Road to Gundagai " wending its way to Charles Mance Reserve to signal the commencement of the ceremony. The highlight was probably two young people (very early teens) from Hilltop School speaking with a maturity and understanding that belied their youth. We are in good hands.
I'll watch some of the march on TV, play some old war songs and then head into town for the big game. Soak it all up.
The game itself is almost second fiddle to the occasion that is Anzac Day. But it is such a privilege for the guys to play in it and be a part. What a thrill for the first timers like Rob, Mark N, Hugo, Zach, Solesi and Blake.
However you choose to mark your Anzac Day and our beloved footy team, spare a thought that we are doing what we are on this day thanks to those who made, in some cases, the ultimate sacrifice. There can be no greater gift.
Lest We Forget.
We had a really nice low key dawn service here, and the first song I heard as the band marched up the street was also "Road to Gundagai". "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" bought a tear to the eye. They were brave men and brave women who stepped up in those days. Not sure how we'd go now. Hope we never have to find out.
Have a great day.
Lest We Forget.

Today we honour those that died defending the freedom we all enjoy, today we mourn those brave young men and women who stood tall in the hour of need, these courageous humans were titans in life and in death their spirit lives on in all of us.
Thank you to all those that serve and have served we are all in your debt.
Lest We Forget.
Go Easts!
