  • Dom back to Knights

Just saw the rumour mill start on Facebook - thoughts? it could free up some more cash for next year, and know doubt Marky Mark could be due an upgrade.

One of the kids could come and fill in (our Pauga) - only problem would be if/when Billy goes down long-term again.

      He can run there sideways.

Maybe Knights have a young winger who can run straight, catch and tackle that we can swap for him.

If we wants out after being dropped than he’s not the sort of character we want at the club.

        Wouldn’t surprise me
on $600k and playing reserve grade
seems they havnt been able to improve his defence or yardage

if we let him go though we may need to make 1-2 pauga type of depth players as atm we have young, pauga then it drops to King who could be on the move plus a couple of guys with no nrl experience

He could be the Perth bears first marquee signing.

Saw this rumour floating around yesterday, seems to be tenuous links to the "Player who wants to return to their former club" rumour in pre-season.

Would be an ideal situation for us if Newcastle were willing to cover his full salary and we weren't left chipping anything in I'd probably do it this season. I've seen enough from Tom Rodwell & Junior Pauga in the past to suggest they would be adequate stop gap solutions if required.

Maybe they could give us Leo Thompson as a swap for the rest of this season to allow our young props to develop a little further.

Point him towards Bondi Beach and tell him to start running?!
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

If the rumours are true, than it's up to Dom IMO. Option 1: stick it out, work on the areas of your game that need improving, fight your way back to 1st grade and potentially win a comp. Option 2: have a cry, leave a powerhouse club and go to a sh!t team for the $$$$ where you will win nothing.

“Cool your jets” guys! It’s a long season and he may be needed. Maybe a stint in Reggies will do him good.

He’s too expensive to hold as a depth player until Toups retires. I’d be surprised if he’s with us next season.

Usually I would agree but if we can catch a desperate club who's panicking and willing to pay his full salary that same opportunity may not exist in the off-season when there will be more options.

Otherwise yes I would agree, hold onto him as there's no doubt he will be needed.

Toops is retiring end of 2026?
I'd keep Dom. He can play wing and centre, 2nd row at a pinch.
Good to have a player like him in the squad. He's improving all the time.
Trouble is, the team rarely passes him the ball on the end of a slick passing backline move where he has space to score tries, like he did last season.
Surely with all Easts contacts we could get him a lucrative 3rd party deal.

If he wants to stay, keep him,... if he wants to go, let him go.

Would only make sense if Roosters could pick up another NRL experienced outside back.
