bellach is a coach of a good team. not the other way around. taylor got the rabble to a gf through hard work and a belief in the jumper. des is going great gunns this year , but why not. have a look around him , the dullbogs tyc team will probably win the gf this year and the way they are going in the nsw cup ,more than likely nail that as well. his first grade development has landed them where they are now and are the only team to fight it out with the cheats in october

I've been listening to Ray Stehr talk about how our players are rubbish and how he thinks most (possibly all) need to go. I feel Ray's frustration, I love his fire and he cracks me up sometimes. I agree our players last year and again this year have been turning in rubbish performances.
I don't blame most of the players for this. Sure I feel about 4 players can be shown the door because they are mainly rubbish, but most of them have the talent. It is Smiffy and Son (Elliot seems a waste of time as well) who are to blame for their lackluster performances, as the players are not being taught or motivated properly and they no longer respond to them.
When it comes to a footballer, about 95% of the battle is mental and 5% talent. Smiffy really grates on the players after while, he is too old school and can not relate to the new generation! He had his honeymoon period in 2010 because he was new to the players and he had Carney who is king of the ad lib style for which you need with Smiffy's no structure style, but after a year he wears very thin on the players. His highly regimented school teacher style just does not work, it gets stale very quickly especially with the current generation of footballers.
Coaches such as Bellamy and Hasler are the masters when it comes to the mental side of things with their players. They can relate to the current generation of footballer, they manage a good working relationship with them, they know how to motivate them and the players in turn respond to them. Their results speak for themselves! Smiffy on the other hand is the opposite to Hasler and Bellamy in this department which is about as I said 95% of the battle, and his results speak volumes!
This is why I push so strongly for Bellamy, he is tried and proven over quite sometime now! I would also welcome Hasler with open arms and legs if we somehow could snatch him from the dogs!
Sure, if we continue with Smiffy next year our performance will improve slightly (we will most likely finish about 12th/13th this year and next year 9th/10th), ONLY on the back of getting SBW and Maloney, and Smiffy being unable to keep picking Anasta in the side with him being then at the tigers! I see absolutely no point in this at all!
All we need to become a premiership force again as soon as next year is 3 or 4 new players (for which SBW and Maloney are 2 of those) which helps win the 5% of the battle and a NEW bloody good coaching set up which is truly THE KEY to winning 95% of the battle!!The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

Going along with what I previously said, confidence is a big part of the mental side of things. Bellamy and Hasler instill confidence into their players. Just look at what Hasler has done with the dogs this year. The dogs were mainly rubbish last year while under Kevin Moore, and now under Hasler with mostly the same roster he has completely turned that side around! Smiffy is just like Moore at the dogs, as in he had his honeymoon period first year, then things turn to crap soon after. Barba is a classic example, last year he was truly rubbish at times, his defense was non existent and could not catch a bomb to save his life as he was down in confidence. Being constantly switched around in positions or dropped he was given no confidence. This year Hasler did not f**k around with him, he threw him in at fullback and told him that it was his position, and that he had the faith in him to be a success. Now look at Barba, he is killing it!!!!!! If Barba had Smiffy as coach he would still be playing f**ked and most likely not even be in first grade.
Bellamy does the exact same thing as Hasler with his players, which is why I really want him at the Roosters. Most of our players this year and last seem to be down on confidence, which is one of our big problems.
Sticky is another great example. This year Hayne and Jennings were playing ordinary with being down on confidence. Sticky shows faith in them by selecting them in his SOO side, gives them confidence and now look at them. They have been two of our best players for NSW. Also Pearce was playing ordinary this year until Sticky got in his ear after the cowboys shellacking, then he turned it around. Unfortunately lately Pearce is going backwards again at the Roosters due to Smiffy's influence.
Once you couple the mental side of things, along with the technical side of things for which Bellamy and Hasler are also the masters of (and for which is another area that Smiffy lacks in), you pretty much have the complete package!Last edited by The Rooster Oracle; 06-30-2012, 07:52 PM.The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

I suppose it's Smith's fault that the players have so many errors in them, ie dropping the ball, Anasta's inability to tackle or throw a pass, missed tackles by the rest of the team ect ect ect. The players are paid very well to do a job which they don't do for the most part ,far too many basic errors which by all rights should not happen or minimally so. These lessons should have been learned a long time ago not in 1st grade. Blame the coach for his lack of structured play sure, but the simple mistakes can only be blamed on the players.

Expect us to perform much like NSW did under Bellamy.
His only "achievements" were with an illegal roster with his own club cheating on the game.
BTW I think his association with the Easts coaching gig is just forum fluff anyway, dont believe he has been mentioned in despatches.

WTF has coaching state of origin got to do with coaching in the NRL?????????????
State of origin and the regular NRL are two entirely different beasts!!!!!!!!!!! Bellamy's time of coaching NSW is completely irrelevant when it comes to considering him for coaching the Roosters. You just need to focus on what matters and that is Bellamy's coaching winning percentage when it comes to the Storm. His percentage is second to none!! Besides, anyone coaching NSW over the last 6 years has been given a poisoned chalice. QLD has just been too good, there the one's with the talent, virtually the Australian side. How would Brian have gone if he had coached NSW the 2 years that Bellamy did? I strongly believe that Brian would have faired far worse, QLD would have flogged NSW by shitload more!!
IMO back when Bellamy was coaching NSW he did not have as good of a side as what Sticky now has PLUS QLD were a stronger side than what they are this year with Lockyer in there side along with Folau and players such as Petro were younger and far more effective than what he is this year!!!!!!!!!
Also Bellamy was coaching many players from the storm such as Smith, Slater, Inglis, Folau, Cronk, as if Bellamy is going to give away their strengths and weakness!!!!! As if Bellamy is going to instruct his players to belt the living f**k out of Slater from every kick like Sticky has been instructing his players!!!! Unfortunately he had a conflict of interest so it wasn't going to work. And that is why NSW then went with the idea of only having a coach who has no club ties, who could then fully concentrate on NSW with no club distractions just like QLD had been doing with Meninga!!!!!
What is the NRL winning percentage of Bellamy since the start of last year to now compared to your boy Smiffy?????????? Just face it Jackie boy, Bellamy shits all over your boy Smiffy!!!!!!!! By the way he won the minor premiership last year with a fully legit side and is well on his way to winning it again this year, so yeah, he has achievements with a fully legal side champ!!!!!!!!Last edited by The Rooster Oracle; 07-01-2012, 06:49 PM.The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!
