If this is true then no to Williams
We are talking about the Roosters, Easts etc
The club is bigger than Williams, the coach or anyone else
We owe this prick nothing and to basically give him free reign to do anything he wants is a damn joke and total insult to the other players. When is his fight meant to be next year? Does it mean he will have a week or two off either side of his fight? If this guy is going to get what is expected, we would want to make sure we get at least 26 weeks out of him.
With the amount of money he' may get it will need to be a minimum of 32 weeks for it to be a success, unless of course he gets a clause in his contract which says he doesn't have to play in finals if he doesn't want to.

I would rather have a 1 year contract than a 5 year contract that was speculated like before.
Would you rather have a player that plays one season but delivers or a player like Anasta who has 1-2 good seasons then flops while soaking up money and that means your stuck with him unti lthe contract ends. At least if he signs a 1 year contract I have a sense of security that if he flops we wont be stuck with him and now the Eels have signed Sandow to a long term contract they're in deep shit.

If you not sure about SBW and expect him to flop why do you want him on a long-term contract.

It only took 12 months for Todd Carney to get us to a GF. We really didn't need another 12 months with him :P

with him :P
TC also showed up to pre-season and trained every week with the sqaud. He also didnt switch codes and jump countries to line his pockets. He also didnt expect to be a boxer and run off mid season to line his pockets again. A piss head yes, and his actions cost him but his commitment to league hasnt changed. His commitment to himself let him down however.

As I said, to show up just before rd1 and expect this bloke to deliver is total and utter gargabe. It will take weeks, if not months and how much money are we paying this bloke??? The results and performance needs to be there from day 1 and even then I dont believe it is worth it.

I was all FOR signing SBW For 3 years as previously reported but 1 year????

Are you &@$$@ kidding me??

Can somebody here please tell me what benefit other than publicity and a few new highlights for his resume this signing do for us as a team??

Anyone???
Hey Leghorn,

Just the other day I was on the phone to a mate of mine who was working on the same job site as Greg Matterson the coach of the Newtown Jets, and he told my mate that its a done deal but its a 2 year contract not 1 as many are speculating. I too hope that this is the case as for 1 year would be a waste of time.

I hope Matterson isn't actually thinking that he may get SBW into the Jets team for a game or two ?

You idiots are missing one of the biggest advantages of signing SBW. He will put bums on seats and bring in advertising money, we definitely need both of those.

Plus he is a handy player. It's a good football decision and a brilliant marketing decision.

He will be adding half back to his name the way we are going

All those sooking about signing SBW are probably happy with Easts sitting in 13th position too.

Bollocks! Nobody here is happy with us sitting in 13th but there are many differing opinions on how to rise up the ladder and, more to the point, stay there. I don't want a year like 2010 if it's surrounded by years like 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012.

I want another decade of excellence and I don't think there is a single magic bullet that gets us that.

No one's happy with that.

But to fix it, you can't whore out what little dignity and integrity we have left to a blow-in who is demanding to do what he wants in two other sports, when he wants to do it.

I'm sure that won't go down like a lead balloon with every other Rooster player busting their arse all pre-season on a pufteenth of $onny Bill's pay packet as he waltzes straight into the team in March.

SBW would give us a good shot in the arm. Year or not it's most likely to be a good year. Of course there are those that continuously want to whinge year on with the same excuses so they'll be unhappy.
At least it will make those who believe a long contract is wrong, happy. You can't please everybody!

YES TO SBW
