I cant imagine other guys who are expected to make sacrifices, work hard for the greater good of the team etc. being happy with ONE player (regardless of ability) being allowed to completely dictate the terms of his time with the club.

It just reeks of a teetering culture becoming rottener (is that a word?) in this club.

For longer term success we must rebuild our identity and culture...I just dont think this is the way.
Yep I see where you are coming from mate.

I guess if he had the profile of a Carntey type, drinking etc, I would understand more.

But this bloke will be playing sport, he won't be bludging or playing up, he will arrive in as good shape as anyone is.

It's a very unusual situation I agree, one that is forigen to our game for the last 20yrs or so.

I still recall many players in the 80s going to the UK in the off season for cash. Many overlapped, arriving home late, I don't recall it causing problems then.

And if you look at US pro sports it's happened before. Dion Sanders comes to mind.

Who knows it may catch on, players playing full seasons again, we may set new trends???

Our culture is sick as it is IMO. A bloke with his drive and work ethic could only improve things I'd hope. I really don't see what we have to lose. It's not as though we are blessed with leaders or senior players to emulate.

If other players put in as much effort as $BW obviously does in his sporting activities and want to test their mettle with other sports, I'd say that could only help our club.

    The FlogPen .

    You know it makes sense.

I agree to a certain extent with your point but you left a few key words out.....you should have added at the start 'If SBW does not perform I cant imagine other guys who are expected to make sacrifices, work hard for the greater good of the team etc. being happy with ONE player (regardless of ability) being allowed to completely dictate the terms of his time with the club.

As it is, if Sonny-Bill tears teams apart I daresay the rest of them would be happy for him to do whatever he damn well pleases. After all, you don't think Fittler/Joey/Lockyer and all the other superstars of the past weren't given preferential treatment by their respective clubs? Its a free market we operate in not a communist systemt where everybody is equal.

without question we need some more mature bodies in our squad, Lewis would be a great fit for 2/3 seasons, if it meant moving Guerra/Maubs/Arona on I would be all for it.
Are you sure this press conference is about Lewis, I just heard on the radio that Thurston has signed for 2013 with the Riff!! No idea if it was a gee up or not, just what I heard. Anyone know if JT was off contract? If this is true then Gus must have offloaded Jennings to somewhere you'd have to think, JT would have to be worth 600-700k wouldn't he??

I wouldn't be suprised if they were holding the PC just to put an end to all the rumours out Penrith way.

              It could all be bullshit.

With the story originating from the Tele, there is a 99% of it all being bullshit.

                      Yeah, that would be right.

He's too good a player for the chooks to chase him....

I think Boyd plays very similar to Lewis. Lets give him more game time and he can prove we don't need to spend money on Lewis!

It Rooster policy that they don't sign anyone over 27 years of age. So he won't be coming to the Roosters.

Lewis seems like a bit of a whingeing biatch. Why would a club get rid of their 'favourite' son if he was a top bloke? Smells fishy to me. I don't want Lewis at our club under these circumstances.

I see tom symonds as very similar to luke lewis - former outside back, similar playing style as a backrower. Tom just needs a good run with injuries and also needs to continue to bulk-up. The major criticism I have with him is that he can be dominated in contact from time to time particularly defensively. Sort this out and he will continue his development into an important cog for us. I dont really think we need lewis. Guerra, Cordner, Symonds, Maubs with FPN, bosden, arona, leilua, taka

Why would we want a proven performer at ALL levels when we can let Guerra and Maubs play their one good game a month.

I swear some of you actually like losing.
