Smith has done what he was recruited to do.Clean out the rubbish and change the culture of the club now its time for him to move on.The only problem with smiths appointment was the length of time 4 years was to long When we made the grand final in 2010 on the back of a brilliant player the powers that be thought that Smith was a genius 2011 proved to be a disaster for us and lets face it 2012 is better but we are not going to mount a serious challenge for the title if at all for a top 8 finish. My main problem is the lack of backline attack, our whole game plan seems to me to be centered on wide running forwards who are depriving the backs and wingers of the ball.We have some really good young players comming thru the 20s probably the best young squad outside the warriors.I reckon Taylor should be given his chance to coach the first grade squad next year see how he goes with sbw and maloney combining with the young guns like oldfield, rts and moga.Make smith coaching director to see out his contract.Taylor would jump at the chance to coach easts 1st grade side and i reckon we would get him at a very reasonable price.

A very well reasoned post on the issue mate.

Can't say I disagree with any of it.

Logical solution to a few problems.

No doubt you are referring to his Royal Toddness. He did indeed play very well, but you and many others are rewriting history. As much as he has not lived up to all our hopes this year and last (as indeed Carney was even more guilty of in his last year for us in 2011), our side in 2010 would not have made the GF without Anasta. I am not just talking about the tigers semi FG, there were at least half a dozen games towards the end of the 2010 regular season in which we came back from deficits (and some seriously badass refereeing ream-jobs) in large part thanks to Anasta's leadership and tryscoring and try assists, not to mention his kicking. He played very, very well. Well enough to help us win a title, but a refereeing stitch up saw an end to that.

He was missed last night - we would have won that game with his goal kicking and field goal kicking ability alone. Many love to hate him, and we all know who they are on this forum, they never shut up about their hatred for him, but he was missed last night nonetheless.

Considering B Smith has mentored J Taylor during much of his coaching career and there would be many similarities in their approach and thinking, can someone please tell me how having them as coaching director and coach is going to improve the joint.

Aren't we just looking for double trouble here?

And I'm not convinced J Taylor on his own is the answer either. Don't believe things would change too much then to what it is now. So what's the point?

A very good point NC. I am not convinced that Taylor is the long term solution either, but I do believe he could be a good short term solution as in taking over from Smiffy asap this year and possibly next year if we are unable to sign a top coach until 2014. In 2006 the eels were going $hit under Smiffy and then Taylor took over from him mid season and turned their whole season around. That is the exact same scenario as what I want to see for us for the rest of this season.

Having Smiffy as a coaching director for me would be a cop out. We would need to get rid of him altogether, find him a job in the ESL as I am positive that he will never land another head gig in the NRL.

My belief for the best interests of our club is that we need one of the current top 3 coaches in the business Bellamy, Hasler or Maguire and have Nick stay out of the way and allow them to run the show.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

              Here's looking at you, kid.

                Ditto.
If Smith has to go then we need to look outside the box.

                  Outside the box?
No one in Australia who stands out to me who isn't already coaching.
Rick Stone, Jim Dymmock,Dean Pay,Peter Sharp.
Do we need Ricky Stuart back, would he come back?
Anthony Griffin is the one outside of Hasler, Bellamy or Bennett that I think is on the verge of great coaches
Nathan Brown or Trent Robinson from England, who else is out there
I'm not sold on JT either but I think he is being groomed to take over from Smith.
I'd prefer someone who hasn't been influenced or worked under Smith before.
Just my opinion but I'd try and get Brown back from England. He got thrown in the deep end at the dragons when he first started coaching but has done good stuff over at Huddersfield.

                    Yep.
Ditch Coach Smith & replace him with.......um, er...

Nothing available of proven coaches, locally, so it is going to be a gamble........here we go again...clutching at straws.

Didn't Coach Slapatampon Brown play as captain under Coach Smiff at The StainedIllaSoxes???

I have to admit Coach Slappy unloading one on Bwaiff on the sidelines at the SFS would be a rather apt way to end a farken weird arse season.

Yeah he payed under Smith but I know he is no fan of his.
Wouldn't mind seeing him slap a couple of others too maybe that would wake them up a bit

Brian Smith on Sydney Roosters' loss to North Queensland: ''There's an old thing that farmers say: If a bull had tits, it would be a cow. You can talk about that until the cows come home. We just didn't adapt . .. Tough titties for us.''

                            We miss you Smithy.

my personal favourite was his rant about bending people over after the 2011 round 2 loss to manly.
