      Carney - 14.4 (2)
      Maloney - 16.1 (4.2)
      Thurston - 11.2 (3.9)

Although these halves don't have brain explosions as often, surely these stats have some weighting..
      What about stats for

      Match winning plays
      Repeat Sets
      Errors
      Kicks to open space
      Inside balls
      Hospital passes
      Win / Loss %

There is a stat for everything good and bad, all depends on whether you are for or against him.

Compare stats, compare age what ever.... There are about two halfbacks you can actually compare with Pearce ATM. Luke Walsh and Chris Sandow. All three playing in dysfunctional, under-performing teams. Pearce is 23. Cronk is 29 playing with the best players in the world week in week out. Thurston is 29 and arguably the best player in the world. DCE is 22 (playing with 8-10 rep/internationals). Wallace is 28 (playing with a team of rep/internationals).

His stats aren't bad, no one has said he doesn't come up with a good play every now and then

But what the stats DON'T tell is his distinct inability to dictate the flow and direction of a match. When the game is there to be won, he's not a player who can grab the game by the scruff of its neck and say 'i want to win this, follow me'. Joey Johns said it himself the other day on triple M. He said that Pearce has shown in glimpses he can kick, pass and tackle as well as anyone... but he doesn't know how to roll it all into one package, and lead and direct his team around the park. As we've seen in the past few weeks and as Peter Sterling, himself, said on nrl.com , Pearce still "struggles to really take control of proceedings when the opportunity exists".

He is not a big game or big moment player.

                  These stats lie!
Our forwards are powder puffs who think a few big hits a game scares other packs. They laugh at us. 150 points against in 3 weeks says the forwards are the problem.

                    PWN...

I agree, not a big game player, but I think some of the stick he is getting is uncalled for.

                      Correct. Solid, nothing more.
There are far worse 1/2's & a couple better atm.
A severe shortage in this position, it would seem.

He certainly isn't the first player from the team I would be getting rid of, if it came to a cull.

not true. Even PWN has given credit where it is due. See, Iirc, Dragons ANZAC day game thread. But there has been very little to write home about ever since that match where Pearce has begun a slow downward spiral

And, if you agree that he is not a big game player.. what do you say about his current coin of 400k? do you think he is worth that even though he's not a big game player

To tell you the truth I am losing what faith I did have in Pearce. To think that he plays SOO, it dumb founds me.

I know he doesnt pick himself in FG or for NSW but it amazes me how he escapes any criticism for his below standard performances. He is so out of form that it is embarrassing, honestly he needs a stint at Newtown. All this talk that SOO players lift when they return to the NRL could not be further from the truth with Pearce.

I have been saying for a while that Pearce is still to young but I have come to the conclusion that Pearce will never get any better than what he is now.
On the other hand I have been critical of Friend but I have to say he is trying new things in attack which I think is a positive.
I cant believe the Roosters even got a draw out of that game. The game itself was one of the worst games of footy I have watched the Roosters play this year.

I gather by that comment that you dont think he is that good.

I dont understand your logic. Are you saying that Pearce would be as good as Cronk if he played for the Storm?

Please dont compare Cronk to Pearce. Cronk is a genuine footballer, he can read the play & make the right decision time after time. I dont dislike Pearce or have favourtism for Cronk but those 2 are chalk & cheese.

I hardly think Pearce escaped criticism after origin.

Just about everyone pointed the finger at him after the game.
