  • The reason we don't have a 'great' half back is because we have Pearce. Unfortunately the aura of the name Pearce is greater than the player and Smith wouldn't dare to drop him for another half. If he wants to go, that's ok then we can get another half, hopefully a better one.

What on earth for? Hairdressing coach? I loved Wingy for his contributions to the club in his early days but I'd much rather we moved forwards not backwards.

I know. But comparing me to Fred? I whinge about at least 2 or 3 things incessantly. There are at least a few tracks on my broken record. Fred's only has his Smith Symphony and it's on continuous play.

Do we? Which of our players have their contracts subsidised by third party sponsorships from them?

The Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust runs the SFS - basically a Government-controlled entity. ANZ is run by Stadium Australia Group, a private company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stadium Investments Pty Ltd. I suspect that Allianz Stadium cannot do these kind of shonky deals. (The insurance company might, provided it is not linked to the Roosters.)

Exactly. We rent the SFS off the Cricket Ground Trust. This trust gets the same rent regardless of our crowd size, therefore improving the crowd would have no financial benefit to them at all.
The Tigers on the other hand get paid to play 6 games at the SFS by the trust,so a third party deal to improve crowds for them would have the same benefit for the SFS as ANZ does...

LOL!! What does that make our mumbling half? The Swedish Chef? (We just need Mark Murray to make a coaching comeback.)

                          No, Pearce is Bip Bippadotta.

                          Famous for this.

I think they are suggesting that he could command such a fee if on the market now. I seem to recall speculation that he signed for us for $400K pa.
