Quote of the month, and so true. Ricky is great for one year or two but very quickly he becomes his own worst enemy, he keeps favorites amongst the squad and is very one dimensional when it comes to footy strategy and game plans. Taylor has more value as a coach then Ricky and that's not a vote for Taylor either.

well i personally dont like stuart as he took all of graham murrays accolades which graham deserved.
but in saying that it is an oportunity that may show us all that stuart may or may not be a first grade coach.
i welcome jt to first grade first then look else where. but there is nothing but slim picking as first grade coaches who would come here and also be available.
if its true the teams hates smith and elliot , well , he has to go.(wests may be looking for an assistant)

1 - How to text while training and why it's good for moral.

8 - The kick chase - how to let the other guys do it.

The playing staff vote on each coaches ability within each challenge and the votes are tallied with one emerging the winner as Head Coach of the Sydney Roosters. It'll be great viewing and the playing staff wil get the coach of their choice and be happy, cause when it all boils down to it, the playing staff being happy is why the club is here. /end rant

        Chook.
Can't you see that the inability of the coach to get the best out of his players is the core problem?

The problem with Stuart is that he will get short term success by winding the whole machine up so tight that it gets maximum output for a short time and then implodes and takes years to fix (see Roosters and Sharks). He also will destroy a couple of promising halves along the way.

          Big no to Ricky!!

No coach can get the best out of a group of players if those players don't want to do their best! And clearly we have players who are doing just enough to retain their first grade spots and not one ounce of effort more! Not to mention the fact the coach is working with some of the most useless and inept players I have ever seen wear the Red, White and Blue.

I agree Vasco that Smith needs to take his share of the blame for our woes. But equally so do the players and the board and the chairman. If you think just changing the coach will solve our problems you are kidding yourself.

              Chook.

We were all disappointed at the way the last few years went under RS but the passion that this side had in his first three years was undeniable. I believe we need that now. We need someone who can rally the troops and make them believe. He is someone that can rally the fans too. Remember his first season as coach? We were struggling at the foot of the ladder after the first few rounds and he wrote an open letter to the fans asking us to stick with it because things would change. A premiership was a great reward for his faith that year. I am not suggesting that he is the only one that can make it happen but few could do it as fast as he can. He has grown up and besides Mini, he won't be coaching anyone involved in that previous team so he can start fresh. If we can somehow get Jason Taylor also involved with the first grade team along with Ricky, it would be a step forward for this great club.

                        A big NO to Ricky.

Are all the player now against B Smith?
If so, was it a short time frame or has this been instigated by one player getting offside & then infecting the remainder of the players over a year or more?

Is a new coach going to stop the rot that has been going on for a number of years?

Seems to be a lot of "insiders" giving mail about the club. I am just a simple fan, I dont have any inside info, but I reckon there is shit stirring (media) going on or maybe the players are genuinely pissed.

The thing is its not all down to the coach, the players need to man up as well. Bringing Ricky back seems to be a desperate clutching a straws move. Sticky though seems to be linked to other clubs as well, wonder if thats a way his manager can get him a bigger pay cheque ?

People seem to forget how god awful our (pretty talented representative-laden) team was minus one B.Fittler under Ricky in 2005-06.

Ricky's whole motivation thing is perfectly suited for Origin, where it's intense, you get away from it between each game etc and the whole set-up is built on intensity and passion.

At a club level, there is no release from it. And eventually the players stop buying into it. They stopped here and they stopped at the Sharks. It only lasted so long here from 2002-2004 because we were winning so often with one of the greatest players of all time in our side.

I also hate his record with halves. It almost seems he gets the shits when they can't do things on his level and gives up on them. He's killed the careers of plenty of halves along the way (Firman, Lewis, Porter, sent Soward on his way, Kimmorley on his way etc).

You may be right but the coach is the person who is paid to take the blame. It's always easier to change the coach than it is to change the squad and the board. I dont want to sound like a soul-less chook, but you need to be realistic. Indeed the only constant factor is the fans.

No way will he be going to Canberra either. Why would you move your family from the beach to Canberra when there are other offers in Sydney, where your daughter also has special needs and is set up in programs for them. Plus, Furner is a protected species down here and if the Raiders win this arvo, they are well set to go on a late run to the finals.
