I really feel we need a hard arse no nonsense coach that will not take a backward step from the players OR management.
I think that Pearce would improve under such a coach.
I hope he would. But if the scuttle about Nick Politis being too hands on and circumventing the coach then not even Jack Gibson could fix Pearce.

Regarding Jack, should anything be read into him leaving as coach when Nick took over in 1976?

Rothfield hates the Roosters. Always has. I thought it was just Gus, but the attacks have not stopped since Gus left. Just look at his page in the Sunday Tele yesterday. Another feel good Todd Carney at Cronulla story followed directly underneath by a negative SBW at the Roosters story. He has done more to destabilise this club than any other human. He practically drove Todd Carney to Cronulla. I will tell you this....something I know to be true.... Mitchell Pearce is a better halfback than Phil Rothfield is a writer. He has no credibility amongst his peers or former players to boot. He is the Norman Gunston of sports journalism. I am hearing that the day his editor walked in and told the journos that their articles must be accompanied by a photo of themselves, was the worst day of Rothfields life. He had his entire extended family searching for months for a suitable photo. He has a head like a wart and his brain is full of puss. He makes Paul Kent look smart.

That's a good point. I hadn't given that any thought.

I wouldn't believe Rothfield if he told me the Earth was round.

I hope he's one of the cuts Noise Limited have to make.

          Chook.

Our club is run by pansies .They should be ripping into Slothfield and there is plenty there.

Don't think he gives a rats ass about running our recruitment but he's telling it like it is. Smiths coaching has plateaued and there's nothing else to give. If Pearce stays, he wont improve. Maybe Buzz's opinion is NSW based more than a hate for the Roosters, if he 'actually' has one. We need a new coach, hopefully one that has won at least once.

in reality we just need to hire joeyjohns to spend heaps of time with jnr jnr during the system, the coach you have when you dont have a coach? joey is the one who brought cronk up from park football standard to now direct the winning qld and melbourne sides!

Pearce can go wherever he wants. He's never going to be the superstar that some people (including himself it seems if this article is legit) think he is going to be.

If he went to melbourne he'd look like a star simply receiving the ball from Smith then passing it to Cronk, but a club like the storm wouldn't bother with him for more than $300K per year as they know that any trained monkey can fill a halves spot at their club (look how good finch looked playing for them).

I can confirm a couple of months ago, in my line of work, I met the online editor of the Telegraph. A very pleasant lady who confirmed Phil Rothfield hates the roosters with an obsessional intensity.

Cronulla's half is better than Pearce.

Looks like the Sharks are going to make a move for him, given it isn't about money.

Judging by the way Carney is playing I wouldn't say Flannagan will be a great coach for him either.
