  • The (near) decade of disaster - and the truthful stats

Third last on the ladder... third worst team in the comp...

Second worst defence, fourth worst attack, third worst for-and-against.

Only in the finals twice in eight seasons... a (near) decade of disaster.

And not even SBW and Maloney... alone... will get us into the finals next year.

More changes are necessary to truly "rebuild" the club... seeing as the current "rebuilding" phase is seemingly meant to last for eternity.

Those are the facts and the stats.

    Discuss.

    Dave Evans is right.

We went from a team that looked like this.

to a team that looks like this.

The addition of a decent 5/8th in James Maloney and a money hungry, morally bankrupt, gigantic ego'd mercenary will not help us.

Statistically speaking we have the fifth worst attack, the second worst defence and we've made the finals three times in the past 8 seasons.

I will treat James Maloney like a GOD, bowing down to him with complete reverence and I will not ever disparage him.

If he is coming here, then Mr. Williams will be a verrucous carcinoma.

Look that up, with a warning.

Howdy I usually just read the posts but i thought i share my thoughts for once.

All I know having watched my beloved Chooks for 20 years or so there's been some good times and some bad but these last few years really they hard to take.

I'm over this rebuilding excuse we are supposed to be a year into this rebuilding phase pretty sure our position on the ladder has not improved and that should be real indication of upward momentum.

I haven't seen reduction in penalties (improvement indiscipline although no jwh this week helped). Our defense is still leaking points after the game gets beyond the boys. And our Attack is woeful sorry but we do need a change.

Admittedly we've lost some close games but honestly i don't think that should be an excuse.

Time for a change starting with the coach imo.

old chook, very well said, Ive been supporting them for 40years my father playing for east rugby in the late 40's its very heart breaking to see them play like this for the last 3 years. There is something in the whole setup that is just not right, there needs to be a clean out, new culture, new mission statement. because if there is not, even the oldest fans will no longer go to the games, turn on the foxtel, pay our membership fees.
P.S JWH penalty count this year? it would lead the comp wouldnt it?

sadly i resemble some of those remarks, ive been a faithful fan since 1966, but now im tending to watch on foxtel instead, a number of faqctors?
the refereeing is now past the stage of ridiculouse, the coaching seems nonexistent?
it costs me a lot to firstly drive to the game then pay for parking, the odd beer and some hot chips, to sit in the rain and cheer for a group , not a team, that doesnt seem to care whether the win or lose?please bring back match payments as opposed to contracts!i used to go to lots of away games too, but nolonger! even tried the trrain club bus thing but several times i couldnt gert on the club bus so i walked back to the junction..not good enough it was full of opposition fans! the club does not seem to value fans except for a quick buck? luna park was very good for a few years, but obviously more expensive than a cheap bbq at the scg? players are unavailable most times, being a bit too precious? tried going back to the club some time back but it seemed to be a sort of nightclub? not again

So you honestly think SBW will not make a difference?

The change is needed much higher up the chain. Much much higher.

Morley's used to as well. Whats your point?

Did it? Moz used to get pinged for high shots, not some of the dumb stuff that JWH does. He carries on too much after a tackle and asks to be penalised a lot of the time.

Then again, Moz was probably a bit older and more experienced when he came to us. All I know is, JWH frustrates me when he gets in that mood where he's like an angry ant.

That's the problem with JWH - the only strings to his bow are putting on the occasional hit or sailing close to the wind when it comes to giving away penalties.

Watching him trying to stir up Myles when we played the Titans earlier this season I kept thinking "That's great JWH, but Myles is twice the footballer you'll ever be"

The guy is overrated in the extreme

The fish rots from the head.

We need new blood at the top.

It's that obvious I can't see why people find the idea so controversial.

Roll the dice, Easts. Change shit up.
