That's a remote possibility I suppose Tom, given that the bloke who brokered the deal with Proton, Steve Noyce, is now at the Roosters.
But I reckon most companies interested in the Chooks will be sitting back and watching how the club performs on and off the field for the first part of next year before committing any sponsorship dollars.
Just like the Dogs had to bide their time before Jaycar came on board.
I'd like to see the Roosters do what the Dogs did if they have free sponsorship space and use it to advertise a charity organisation, as the Dogs did Camp Quality. If they can find a charity willing to participate of course.

Next year we need a few old heads that will keep our young players under control. You know what happens when you have a heap of 20-23 yr old blokes together in an environment where there is alcohol? Equals trouble. I think we should have signed Fitzy for the next two years as he would have been the perfect bloke off-field to nurture these players into mature players. He is an old-school kind of bloke and his qualities of loyalty and maturity would be a great asset for the younger players to pick up off somebody of his stature within this club.

Sydney Roosters major sponsor Samsung unlikely to renew deal for next season

THE embattled Roosters appear certain to pay the ultimate price for their traumatic season on and off the field, with club insiders now conceding major sponsor Samsung is unlikely to renew next year.
Samsung has a "year-to-year" deal for $800,000 to be on the front of the Roosters jersey, an arrangement the electrical giant has been seriously questioning amid a plague of controversy at Bondi Junction in 2009.
Nate Myles' horrendous incident on the Central Coast six weeks ago was believed to be the final straw, although Roosters CEO Steve Noyce is desperately trying to salvage the relationship.
'"We're still in negotiations," Noyce said.
The Roosters boss, however, is fighting fires on two other crucial fronts.
Both back of jersey sponsor AGS World Transport and sleeve sponsor GEON are also uncommitted beyond this year. The sobering upshot is that the Roosters' 2010 strip is blank at present, a headache for jersey manufacturers who want to start producing next year's designs in time for the lucrative Christmas period.
We can also reveal that Noyce disciplined and fined Myles two weeks ago. The penalty has not been disclosed, but is a five-figure sum.
This keeps other clubs off the back page.

You know it makes sense.
