  • can we please have another crisis meeting this week

seriously when will the talk end and some action begin

the lack of discipline/fitness/effort in this team is unbelieveable, the whole coaching/conditioning staff need to be replaced.

the short kickoffs and sideways ad-lib football is just a further indication that the players don't care.

geez I hope the telucrap unloads on us this weekend we deserve everything we cop.

1 win in 3 months says it all really.

one final comment Bellamy is not the answer its time to bring in the team of Taylor/Robinson/Fitzy.

Fat lot of good the crisis meeting did this week.

The reality check is we are crap. I dont if its poor coaching, poor players or just disinterested players or a combination of all. Somebody said in another thread that we are a dumb team, I think that sums it up.

Fletch when you mention a team of Taylor/Robinson/Fitzy do you mean Robinson head coach with JT and Fitzy his assistants?

How about this for an idea. While my number 1 option is still for Bellamy (or Hasler if at all possible), what about JT and Trent Robinson as CO head coaches?? We could be the first ever team to do such a thing and I for one believe it could work.

As a rough idea JT and Trent would command about $400k each as a head coach. The top coaches these days are on about $800k. So money wouldn't be an issue.

I will explain some of the reasoning for why I think that it could be a really good idea.
For starters two heads can be better than one.
The main thing though is that I like the idea of two head coaches instead of the traditional head coach and his main/head assistant, as two head coaches would feel equally responsible for the outcome of the team. They would equally try as hard for the team to succeed!

I take a look at some assistant coaches and have a belief that they don't give their all. I believe that the assistant would think ok, I am on (for eg) $150k while the head coach is on (for eg) $800k so why would I put in as much effort when I don't get paid as much to do so. I look at say 2007 for us. What was Freddy doing as an assistant as compared to later in the year when he took over as head coach? I don't believe Freddy was doing anywhere near the same thing.

I get a feeling that an assistant would be happy enough to sit back when the heat is on, as the heat does not come on to them anywhere near as much as what it does the head coach, and let things ride its course as they can most likely sniff an opportunity to take over. An assistant can most probably also have a fear that any of the good work they do for the side they won't get the accolades for and that the head coach will reap the rewards, so basically they will do the bare minimum for what their pay indicates. An assistant may feel like he does not command as much respect as the head coach from everyone else associated with the team.

If JT and Trent are both head coaches then any potential problems I mentioned would be eliminated. The key of course is that they would have to get along and agree on the page to be working from. But then doesn't this have to be pretty much the same case with the traditional one head coach and his main assistant.

I know that I like the idea of two guys working their ar$e$ off for the same cause instead of one, which can only be to the benefit of our club!

Also co captains have worked, you just have to look at Manly last year.

Just putting it out there anyway.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

      Here's looking at you, kid.

No need for all that fletch, we just need a name change to the Keystone Roosters and it'll all make sense.

            Chook.

There has been co-head coaches. When the dragons and steelers merged, David Waite and Andy Farrar co-coached. Did not work out at all.

Bring back Carnavon to run the joint
Bring back Dean Pay to coach defence. He started his coaching here
bring back Robinson to coach the joint
And do what ever you can to get billy Johnstone to get these blokes fit and ready for first grade

Crisis meetings are useless as we are beyond a crisis. It's simple, start the changes NOW!!

This happened in 1999 and the dragons made the GF and should have won it after leading 14-0 at halftime and 18-14 with about 3mins left. I don't see how that didn't work.

Then after a bit of research I found this; "The Dragons were not going well in the first half of the 2000 season, and the main coach David Waite was replaced with assistant coach, Andrew Farrar".

So there you go, Farrar was actually the assistant. There was always going to be potential for some ill feeling between the St George and Illawarra parts in the first few years as there is a sorting out period for power.

Fair enough, I thought they were co-coaches.
If this was to happen JT and Robinson would have to be real close mates with very similar ideas and visions on where they want to take the squad.

Personally I'm no fan of JT, but I'd take him over Smith any day.

I would take any of us over Smith. Clearly he has lost the players and/or cant get his message across.

Our side has zero passion. It is very frustrating. I love the RWB and have all my life but it is hard to get excited about upcoming matches.

It's hard to get excited about next season too. It seems that a lot of people on here think that Maloney and sbw will come and all will be good.
It won't change the fact that our fullback is beyond his best, our dummy half is well a dummy and a real uncreative and slow one at that and the coach is a dead set fruit loop along with his assistant. Two players won't change that fact. Its going to be tough if the same people are running the show. For as good as sbw is it won't matter if Smith is still in charge, same with Maloney. Carney and Pearce just clicked straight away along with the rest of the squad. What if Maloney comes and it takes him a good 3/4 of the season to find his feet, I suppose all on here have not thought of that yet. I have no doubt Maloney is a good addition to the team but it may take time to gel. I just hope it's not Smith running the show because that may take years to happen
