  • Our new captain for this year and beyond

Just putting this out there and feel free to bag me but........
Auden Guerra, is he a possibility?
The one bloke who has been our most consistent performer this year and last. Well liked within the group, not a big head, just a bloke who is going to give you the best he has week in week out, a leader by example, not the best player but a hard worker. Cordner to be vice captain. Parts threw Cayless the captaincy when he was real young and he benefitted from it. I think Guerra and Cordner could benefit from it too
    Just a thought

Aidan Guerra is a good player, but in last nights game I did not see him throw a pass.

Ok 1 bad game. He has been our best all year, surely he is allowed 1 dissapointing outing.

        yeah true.
hes got good foot work and high ball skills for a second rower.
I think Boyd would be better captain material though

Nah, Guerra was part of Carney's drinking crew during the 2010-11 off-season, won't get the gig.

It's Boyd for me, but Nick will pick Mini and **** the club in the arse for another season.

I would make mini captain for the rest of the year on the condition he retires one year early. Next year I would go with Maloney.

Cordner is a future captain for sure. I'd pick him next year but you just know they'll give Mini his swansong like they did Ricko.

Then Pearce will probably have another tasty and demand the captaincy or he'll walk out, much in the same way he got the starting 7 jersey all those years ago

On an aside, did I see Guerra having something to say with some spectators near the fence when he went off the field in the second half. Was on the Easternside of the ground walking around the outside of the field (I guess would've been bout in front of Bay31).
Thought i saw some finger pointing ?

Boyd Cordner but it will go to Pearce. He also has experience when captaining Australian Schoolboyz.

I'd have picked Pearce at the start of the season but with all the destabilizing telecrap stuff and from watching Cordner captain the NSW U20s I'd give it to Boyd.
It's scientifically impossible for Easts to be in Souths' shadow when there's daylight between them and us.
                      Easts to win

Pearce needs to get his own game in order before looking after the team.
Aiden struggles putting 2 words together.
I vote Cordner. I don't care how old he is. He appears a leader.
                        He also plays 80 minutes.

I would give it to Jared,he who steps up and has a dig every game and shows some real passion and aggression.
I don't care he cops a couple of penaltys here and there, refs trying to get him to tone it down.
He would inspire them all to step up their game when needed and lead by example.

I think it should be Maloney. Not only is he coming here as our new playmaker and allowing a fresh start for us in a way, may as well complete the move by giving him the captaincy. Cordner should then get it then in four/five years time.

JWH for my liking - a international feared by many well liked by players can relate to his fell bro's and besides it would impact on his somewhat ill temper - as a captain refs may respect him more. I recall in beetsons early years at easts that gronks like ref Keith page and yappy Holman gave Artie a hard time - it all changed once jack Gibson made him captain - he could see his leadership abilities outside the negatives and I see the same with Jared
