  • Takairangi Wants Out??

    I was talking to a mate the other day (that is also mates with Brad Takairangi). They were saying that Taka had recently had a falling out with Smith over something which had led to Taka not being happy and possibly wanting out. My mate is usually a very reliable source, but I wasn't sure about this.

    Then in this weeks RLW I read the following;

    "Lanky Roosters forward Brad Takairangi is under contract to the club for next year but is exploring his options. The ball-playing back rower was left out of the Roosters team that got thumped by the Titans last Friday night and has been receiving enquiries from at least two rival clubs"

    so maybe there was something to it?

    On a different note there was also a snippet about Mitchell Pearce;

    "The Bulldogs are set to clear the decks to make a play for Blues halfback Mitchell Pearce should he manage to secure a a release from the final year of his Roosters contract next season. The Roosters are playing hardball, however, and are desperate to hang onto Pearce and play him alongside Warriors recruit James Maloney".

    Dead set how long before the Bulldogs have a full audit undertaken by Schubert, as they apparently have a salary cap that is triple that of everyone else enabling them to buy whoever they want?? If they do manage to snare him they will probably offload 3 or 4 reserve graders and then offer Pearce a $600,000 a year contract. I hope Pearce stays, but if he does want out then they should at least make him honour the last year of the contract. Why do the dirty dogs any favours.

    Part of me wants to say PISS OFF SMITH and part of me wants to call shenanigans on this thread.

      I could see why Taka would want out, SBW pretty much spells the end for any chance of first grade for him but there would be no official stupid enough to admit they've been talking to him, i.e coaxing him out of a contract with more than 12 months to run so I would take the article with a grain of salt. Sounds like nothing more than speculation.

        Manly want him and are willing to pay more than we are willing to.
        Personally I think it is a shame.
        I rate him as a player with the x factor.
        His defensive flaws and work rate could both be worked on.

          Taka

          At this stage of his career, he can move on, if you get the chance to watch replays of alot of easy tries against us this season, it was Taka who made the initial big miss, on what should of been his man to take down, he has major defensive flaws, that is what has been holding him back from first grade selection.

            Of all the things that piss me off this one takes the cake.

            #1 if true then the coaching staff at the club who are responsible for the development of players has reached the point of no return as clearly they do not recognise talent even when it comes up and stares them right in the face.
            This bloke (given the right amount of mentoring) will become one of the best players we will have in coming years. When he gets the ball you move forward in your seat and take notice as you don’t know what he will do next. He is a good lateral mover and for the life of me I cannot understand why he can’t get a gig.
            His defensive lapses need to be worked on and because he is relatively young that can be fixed very easily.
            I would be more worried about Maloney that is coming here as he misses plenty.

            #2 if untrue then it is just another example of yet another player coming into the frame for some rumour that Joe Blow heard from Fred Blogs and around we all go on the forum again with a fresh round of ammunition to self-destruct.
            Look no offence to you Funky Chicken but seriously articles written in the paper belong at the bottom of the Cocky cage and your mate(s) hopefully has been geed up.
            On the bright side I guess is that Taka starts with a T and there are bugger all players left with names at that end of the alphabet so I guess the whole squad has now been scrutinised and covered off on.

            Resume hostilities.

                Ghost, who's the source you heard this from? Reliable? If so Uncle Nick, get the cheque book out. I read people on here wrapping Tolman, this kid is in the same mould, younger, a hard hitting defender and a stronger ball carrier. Chase this kid hard

                        Ordinarily I'd agree with that comment, but it is quite apparent that our coaching staff are totally incapable of rectifying defensive flaws in players. Our players make the same errors now that they were making two, three or more years ago.
                        If the same players today are making the same misreads/errors they were making three or more years ago, then stands to reason the younger blokes starting out now will no doubt continue to make the same errors in the future !
