I was talking to a mate the other day (that is also mates with Brad Takairangi). They were saying that Taka had recently had a falling out with Smith over something which had led to Taka not being happy and possibly wanting out. My mate is usually a very reliable source, but I wasn't sure about this.
Then in this weeks RLW I read the following;
"Lanky Roosters forward Brad Takairangi is under contract to the club for next year but is exploring his options. The ball-playing back rower was left out of the Roosters team that got thumped by the Titans last Friday night and has been receiving enquiries from at least two rival clubs"
so maybe there was something to it?
On a different note there was also a snippet about Mitchell Pearce;
"The Bulldogs are set to clear the decks to make a play for Blues halfback Mitchell Pearce should he manage to secure a a release from the final year of his Roosters contract next season. The Roosters are playing hardball, however, and are desperate to hang onto Pearce and play him alongside Warriors recruit James Maloney".
Dead set how long before the Bulldogs have a full audit undertaken by Schubert, as they apparently have a salary cap that is triple that of everyone else enabling them to buy whoever they want?? If they do manage to snare him they will probably offload 3 or 4 reserve graders and then offer Pearce a $600,000 a year contract. I hope Pearce stays, but if he does want out then they should at least make him honour the last year of the contract. Why do the dirty dogs any favours.
