Cmon John the way The way you have talked him up I think it is a comparison

For the record i think Oldfield is and will be a amore than competent winger for us

That's all you want out of a winger. Next year with the Black Leopard on one side and the "My brother's a bastard" on the other, we'll be alright.

Thank God for something out of the ordinary, finally a player with some flare
who's not intimidated by the opposition.

RTS is showing some great signs but we got to be careful not to overblow his performance last night. I do not believe he is ready to be named as starting fullback yet. Let him find his feet first, he is still a little green. Same with Moga. If you notice sometimes Moga will switch to centre during a game and we can do the same for RTS. We can switch him and Mini for periods during the game. Now that they are in first grade there is no going back, but let us be wise and bring them on gradually. Barba had some horrible times at the start of his first grade career. The dogs played him on the wing until he found his confidence. We did the same for Mini at the start of his career. These two guys will be stars for us though, I am not denying that. There is no denying that. Next off the line are Evans and Napa. Exciting times even allowing for the disappointments this year. Smith is right about one thing. Everybody feels good about winning.

Exactly how I feel eggy. RTS has so much natural talent it's scary that this is his first year in League. The club need to secure him long term. He will bring back the crowds to the SFS.

THE first thing Sydney Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan noticed was the flashy boots and the flashier footwork.

"He was playing fullback for Otahuhu High," O'Sullivan said of boom teenager Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

"I just remember he had coloured boots and his feet were going in every direction and they were going very fast. As I said, he has the best footwork I have ever seen on a player."

Better than the NRL's resident side-stepping superstar, Benji Marshall?

"Yep, he is unbelievable," O'Sullivan said. "He was a beacon in that tournament."

Now he's a beacon at the Roosters. After making a solid first grade debut last weekend against Gold Coast, Tuivasa-Sheck retained his place on the wing for tonight's game against St George-Illawarra at Allianz Stadium.
The most influential people in Sport

Good judges, O'Sullivan included, believe he is the long-term answer at fullback once Anthony Minichiello decides it's time to call it a day. Until then, he will learn his trade on the wing opposite fellow teenager and roommate Tautau Moga.

His rapid elevation to first grade has vindicated the Roosters' pursuit last year of a player who was coveted by rugby union and rugby league alike in his homeland. He started playing rugby league only when the rugby union season finished at his high school. By the end of last year, he was a fully fledged cross-code star.

"Auckland Blues rugby union made a good play for him and the New Zealand Warriors did as well," O'Sullivan said.

"It was quite a coup for us in that we were taking on rugby and the home league team. He has the whole package -- polite, well-mannered, intelligent, going to university.

"He is a great kid. He ticks every box and he can play, which does help. He is an absolute delight."

The Roosters sealed the deal by flying Tuivasa-Sheck and his father to Sydney, where they took him on a guided tour of the eastern suburbs. "Without being disrespectful, Coogee has Otahuhu covered," O'Sullivan said. "We had everything in place in terms of his welfare and education. It was a good fit."

O'Sullivan expected Tuivasa-Sheck to play some first grade this year, but he looks likely to exceed expectations.

His performances in the Toyota Cup left the Roosters with little option. No player averaged as many metres as the 187 a game he churned out every week before being elevated to NSW Cup in preparation for his NRL debut.

                    "I wasn't 100 per cent sure," O'Sullivan said.

"It wasn't going to surprise me either way.

"Education-wise, learning the game has been really good. If you said to me he was going to play five games, I would have said that's right."

O'Sullivan has been responsible for uncovering the likes of Greg Inglis and Israel Folau.

He rates Tuivasa-Sheck on the same level.

"He's a completely different type of player but he is top-shelf," he said.

"He was school captain, captain of the footy team, all that sort of stuff.

"He is an absolute leader, beyond any doubt."

                    ___

The best thing about him is that he seems to be the complete modern day fullback as he also has a passing and kicking game.

Morris gets outside his man on almost every occasion, granted he was losing his feet a little but that was brilliant by RTS.

No disrespect to Perret, but that would have been a Morris try.
His defence is the truly surprising part of his game.

Even against the Tits he was very solid.

So what we're saying is we've got a winger who can step break the line is good under the high ball AND most importantly can defend? Hallelujah!!!!!!!!

Another recent article on Roger 'the Dodger".

Tuivasa-Sheck making his mark on the NRL
After only arriving at the Sydney Roosters on New Year's Day, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was hoping just to get a run the NRL side's under-20s team this year.

Spotted by the Roosters' recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan playing in a rugby carnival in Auckland, the 19-year-old winger was brought across the Tasman and earmarked as one for the future.

But despite having played just a handful of league matches in New Zealand, the speed at which he's come to grips with the game in the Toyota Cup this year prompted coach Brian Smith to hand him his debut last week against the Gold Coast.

A steady performance saw Tuivasa-Sheck keep his place in the side for Friday's clash with St George Illawarra and he showcased his ability with a superb display both in defence and attack to announce his arrival in the NRL.

After denying NSW winger Brett Morris a certain try in the first half with a brilliant cover tackle, the 19-year-old made a 60-metre burst from his own end-goal area to set up the second of Mitchell Pearce's three tries.

And Smith, who's been coaching in first-grade since 1984 revealed after the game, he'd been blown away by the development of Tuivasa-Sheck in such a short space of time.

"He's a dynamo that boy, he hasn't missed a beat since day one," Smith said.

"He's definitely got a lot of talent as you can see, but he is one of the fastest learners I have ever come across.

"He just swats it up. He takes things on and learns fast."

"He's got quick feet and great hands. It was a bit risky for us to put him in there, but the first-graders had a lot of faith in him and were looking at me and asking him when we were we going to put him on."

The young winger admitted he was still coming to terms with his rapid ascent, and said he was shocked to get the chance to play in the NRL so soon.

"I was just hoping to play for the 20s," he said.

"I was pretty nervous about that. My trials didn't go that well and I knew I had to pick up my game.

"But playing for the firsts now, that's awesome."

"I played a bit of league at school, but I didn't know all the rules. I played New Zealand schoolboys in rugby union.

"I just put my trust in the coaches for having belief in me and helping me get here and I thank them for that.".
