If he's going to defend on the wing, then play him on the bloody wing.

All this chopping and changing in positions between attack and defence is why our defence is shyte on occasions. Players don't always have the opportunity to get into their "second" position on a sudden turnover of possession.

It's not as if the opposition is going to take time out so our blokes can re-arrange themselves.

I honestly don't think it is a massive deal. You mean to tell me Mini is going to do any worse then what we have? All it is going to be is an extra ball runner and support player in the middle. Pearce as always will still do all of the kicking and organising. I agree it isn't ideal with getting back to your position in defence if he is on the wing. But it isn't uncommon these days to see halves hidden in defense at centre or on the wing.

That said if it was up to me I'd have Mini straight back to 1, Pez on the wing and SKD in the centres.

In attack I really like the idea......better support play, more linebreak right up the middle potential, more speed etc etc - in defence however I am very concerned as we are up agains ta very crazy and dangerous Tigpies side that can sniff out a try from anywhere.

I don't mind the idea too much tbh.. could work out perfectly, but this gives the Pearce-mini combo to develop.. and imo, this could be a deadly combination

It's alright, not going to be a massive issue.. if he is struggling Jones can come on and just play him at a ball playing lock, and Mini as another centre forward runner type. On the centers Sa should go back to the bench/forwards and bring up Ryan Williamson from the 20/s.. It would be good if Freedy gives him a run in the top grade this year to get him used to it as I think he should be there round 1 next year.
I think Freddy will stick to his mates for the rest of the season so Williamson will have to wait until next year for a run in FG unless injury forces the change. Williamson was apparantly supposed to play on the wing for FG last round but SKD was bought in on the night befor the game and he was sent back to NYC.

Mini has a good passing game. he will rip it at 5/8.

Particularly high-profile players like Mini or Anasta! They've been proven in their positions and deserve to play in those positions.

I guess the real thing is that it's an important position and we've got no known players who can play it? So... get an experienced player to try it out... while that's a bad move, it'll probably go better than for example putting Stanley Waqa in as 5/8 just because he's a young bloke and you never know...

When you're down to options like that due to injuries, I guess you just try the most talented bloke because you can't afford to have a dodgy 5/8. Even out of position, Mini knows the game well, is solid at passing, can kick well and can run well... he's got the skills needed, just not the experience with the position. At least he's been given a week to think about it (unlike Anasta at fullback.)

                  ditto

I'm pretty sure he's played 5/8 before, maybe during a game, when someone got busted? 3-4 yrs back?

It'll be the speed of the defence, not his ability that will determine how he goes.

He should go OK in attack, its not as though weve had a 5/8 with real pace or silky skills since the dead sea was sick.

What will be interesting is where he will defend. I guess Mini will pull a Benji or Soward and defend on the wing.

I think kHunt showed last week (as has Lockhead since his move to 5/8) most fullbacks struggle in the front line in defence.

                    The FlogPen .

                    You know it makes sense.

I've heard on Roosters website (Mini interview thingo) That he will switch with Sa durning the game and Mini will go to fullback on Attack..

thats f**ked. More ways to confuse players. I excpect Sa/mini and Perret to play there worst game of season.

                      Tigers + 30.

Yeh so we will have a centre jumping in and playing 5/8, and 2 players fighting eachother for the fullbacks position. In the meantime, we will only have 1 ball player in Pearce. What the!

It sounds like freddy is going to dress as the Mad Hatter, sit on the sideline and yell:

                            "CHANGE PLACES !!!!"

                            Every set !!!

i don't think Mini has played 5/8 since his junior days,, but yes, the idea of him moving and others swapping all sorts of position tells us Fittler is confused and isn't satisfied (MUSICAL CHAIRS!!)

i hate having Sa at 5/8 .. does nothing there.. or anywhere else
