im not defending SKD. BigMikes post seemed to suggest that him being the best centre in the world in 2010 was somehow made up or a fantasy housed here in the pen. Im merely stating the facts. I do however agree with others in that its hard to blame the driver for an accident when the brakes fail. losing penalty counts, soft defence, no go forward, dropped balls, no attacking structure, a horrible 5/8 isnt exactly the best platform to inject a centre from. need i remind you of how bad inglis' form got as he was rotting out on the left edge at souths when they were a rabble and when he was outside 2 inept halves. now they have moved him to fullback and installed some fitness/decent structures and he is excelling. What SKD can do athletically, busting tackles, scoring tries is unique. he isnt a defensive centre, he is there to score tries and excite. unfortunately, we arent playing in a manner that would allow him to do this. not to mention his injuries of late

The dimwits who awarded him that title obviously don't value defence ... or ball handling ... or rugby league fundamentals in general. SKD has always been a powerful and awkward runner. That's all he has to his game. For every try he scores, he lets in or contributes to at least two. Now that Pearce has gone soft defensively - we are leaking points down that corridor because this klutz(who is 100kg+btw) is afraid to put the shoulder in).

Lets not compare him to the 2011 Inglis, who even when injured could make an impact or at least not fark up.

His defence needs work but it comes down to the central argument I seem to constantly have with people on here about our players about what can be coached and what cant be. what you want is players that have the uncoachables as the rest can be worked on and taught. otherwise you would have a team of robots with no finesse or flair. this is bad coaching as much as it is his fault. Its not like your naturally born good at tackling, its something some have to work on more than others and he is one of them simple as that
