Jennings, Lawrence, Monaghan, Inglis and Morris are the only centres in the NRL I would consider chasing for our backline, the rest aren't worth their price tags.
Unfortunately, if we sign Jennings, I can guarantee much like Amos Roberts, he will fade out into mediocrity - Jennings won't be able to work his magic on the end of our dysfunctional backline.

I think you might be wrong Mack. Our side only young remember and if we do recruit Jennings, He will only get better, just like the rest of the kids in the team. What a team it will be in a few years.
1. Anthony Minichiello
2. Sam Perrett
3. Michael Jennings
4. Tom Symonds
5. Shaun Kenny-Dowall
6. Todd Carney
7. Mitchell Pearce
8. Nate Myles
9. Jake Friend
10. Frank Paul-Nuusuala
11. Willie Mason
12. Setaimata Sa
13. Braith Anasta (c)
14. Lopini Paea
15. Anthony Cherrington
16. Mitch Aubusson
17. Ben Jones
Now that's an awesome team. The team could stay like that for at least the next five years. Maybe expect for Mason.
Then you've got these players as depth players:
Daniel Conn
Jared Wearea-Hargreaves
Ryan Williamson
Mose Masoe
Stanley Waqa
Martin Kennedy
Sisa Waqa
James Aubusson
Fine Moeakiola
Olireti Samuelu
Iwi Hauraki
Isaac Maliota
Tu'u Maori
Ray Moujalli
Joseph Leilua
I'm surprised he didn't interrupt Hayne to say the Roosters were talking to him.
I wouldn't put any credibility in us talking to Jennings right now.
And if the roosters did chase hayne, i would be over the moon !!! he is a one of a kind footballing talent, much like mini !!!!!
As to jennings, they are talking about him being a free agent for 2011 season, too much time between now and then, alot can happen !

At a football club, there’s a holy trinity – the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques.

Not bad at all.
In that team, all day every day I would start Paea, shift Myles to the backrow, and get rid of Sa. The bloke is simply not pulling his weight in terms of workrate, and Paea shifting to the front row means Myles can make plenty of tackles in the backrow in a modified version of Fitzy's role. I'd also bring in JWH onto the bench, dump Sa to the Jets for the meantime to give him a kick up the backside.
Also, switch Aubusson and Symonds - Aubusson has more experience and defensive adequacy at centre, Symonds currently excels as a hole-hitting forward.
I doubt Moujalli is a long-term prospect either, and I think we should stick by Sisa Waqa for now as well, but I see your point in general.
Look, if Jennings was coming here, I'd be over the moon, but we have had a habit of bringing players over and forcing them to play our style of footy rather than letting them play their natural game. It has hindered Mason, Harrison, Monaghan (until Freddy took over) and even Roberts. I hope this will change, and with the youth here we will play a more exciting brand of football.

Looks pretty good. The main point I'm making is that we are finally building depth and not over spending on big-name players. If no one is pulling there weight, we can afford to drop them and have a quality player fill in.
Check out this list of depth players we would have in each position with the first listed in each position being the next in line and so on.
Outside Backs
Ryan Williamson
Luke Towers
Fine Moeakiola
Sisa Waqa
Sandor Earl
Halves
Liam Foran
Brad Murray
Props
Stanley Waqa
Martin Kennedy
Mose Masoe
Ray Moujalli
Dane Cordner
Hooker
James Aubusson
Olireti Samuelu
Riley Brown
Backrow
Setaimata Sa
Daniel Conn
Boyd Cordner
Jimmy Anderson
Joseph Leilua
Jerome Leolahi
The only place we might look at bit slim in is the halves, but we've got Anasta and Sa who can fill in there if need be.

Jacob Miller got selected in Aussie Schoolboys this year is a half or 5/8, has played a handful of game for our NYC this year.. can develop and turn into a solid first grader in a few years, to add support for Pearce or secure a 5/8 spot. Also Cheyse Blair made the Schoolboys this year, is a centre/fullback who can be added to the outside backs list.
That is the side, correct. I think the rest of the 25 man squad should be made up of players over 20, therefore the rest of the squad would leave a Jets team that will potentially look like:
1. Luke Towers (NYC graduate - off contract)
2. Smith Samau/Sonny Tuigamala (current Roosters, keep one - both off contract) or Iwi Hauraki (Jets contract)
3. Mark Talanoa (NYC graduate - off contract)
4. Sisa Waqa (current Rooster - signed till 2012)
5. Sandor Earl (NYC graduate - off contract)
6. Setaimata Sa (current Rooster - signed till 2012)
7. Liam Foran (Jets contract)
8. Martin Kennedy (NYC graduate - signed till 2010)
9. James Aubusson (current Rooster - signed till 2010)
10. Stanley Waqa (current Rooster - signed till 2010)
11. Mose Masoe (NYC graduate - signed till 2010 or 2012)
12. Daniel Conn (signed from Titans - signed till 2011)
13. Nick Kouparitsas (current Rooster - signed till 2010)
14. Sean Rudder or Tyrone Shelley (both Jets contract)
15. Jimmy Anderson (Jets contract)
16. Khalid Deeb (Jets contract)
17. Ray Moujalli (Jets contract)
I think from that bunch, the players that will most likely make up the rest of the top 25 are Conn, Kouparitsas, Aubusson, Sa, Kennedy, Stan Waqa, Sisa Waqa, and one more outside back.
Really, the Roosters dominating a period of 2-3 years with a group of relatively homegrown players who debuted in first grade at the Roosters, along with a select few purchased experienced players (namely Carney at five-eighth, and the backrow of Mason, Myles and Anasta) would be the signs that not only did the club make the right decisions, but also that we would have the bragging rights of building our own team, rather than buying one.
Imagine seeing guys like Perrett, SKD, Symonds, Jones, Cherrington, Nuuausala and Friend flourishing as players in a young team bristling with confidence. Imagine seeing Paea lead the forward pack with his determined charges. Imaging seeing kids like Cheyse Blair, Jared Warea-Hargreaves, the Cordner brothers, Isaac Maliota and Ethan Lowe hitting the field running after waiting in the wings. Good times ahead, if we play our cards right for a change!
Yet another big name player who will underachieve at our club for a few years before going on to shine at another club.
No thanks!
You wouldn't take him!?!?!?!?!?!?
He was interviewed on t.v a few days ago about something else which I missed. Then when asked about where he would be playing down the track he didn't seem to handle the question too well.
