Veteran fullback Anthony Minichiello says the Sydney Roosters are desperate to restore some pride against Canberra after their embarrassing loss to Parramatta.

The Roosters are locked in a three-way battle for the NRL wooden spoon following the 36-22 defeat to the last-placed Eels.

Brian Smith's side have a three-point buffer over Penrith and Parramatta with three rounds remaining and a victory against the Raiders in Canberra on Saturday would all but see the Roosters avoid the spoon.

"There was a lack of everything during the game. We have to work hard at training. We'll do that because we're all hurting from it and we want to improve ourselves before the end of the season," Minichiello said.

"There's three games to go and we want to try and win those three games. We're concentrating on the Raiders this week. We don't want to put in another performance like we did. It was quite embarrassing. We all weren't working together - it wasn't our night individually and as a team as well. We didn't put it together.

"It's obviously been a frustrating year because the squad of players we do have we know were better than where we are (on the table)."

Smith could face a hostile reception when he fronts Roosters' members at the club's coaches' forum at Bondi Junction on Tuesday night.

Questions are sure to be asked not only about the Roosters' on-field efforts in 2012 but also the decision to release international winger Sam Perrett to Canterbury mid-season.

Yeah, maybe Mini is a bit past it & no doubt had an absolute shocker on Saturday night but your comments (as well as a few others) are a farken embarresment to all roosters supporters.

And no, i've got no problem with people critsizing, even venting there frustrations which is understandable at the moment, everyone's entitled to express there opinion. He is right, it's embarrassing seeing this guy go around. At the game on Saturday fans in the crowd were laughing, it's a joke. Also what he is doing is selfish. Next year we are going to have some great young kids the thought of him holding them out is sickening. As I said before rather than hang on for dear life go out with a bit of dignity like Hindmarsh, Freddy or Lockyer did. Is that too much to ask?
