Surprise packets: Which player has exceeded expectations at your NRL club in 2012?

I would have included Cordner myself, but well done to RTS.
    Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

exceeded expectations? that suggests they are players who are yet to come of age etc not boom youngsters... I find it classic that as soon as we have a couple of young talents come into grade, the tele runs non-stop stories about them to heap the pressure on

They heap too much pressure too early, on ALL our youngsters.

Tuivasa-Scheck, Moga, Henry are in their first year of first grade.
Seluini, Tasi, Cordner are in their second year of first grade.
Guerra, Masoe, Takairangi, Leilua are in their third year of first grade.
Kennedy and Hargreaves both briefly featured in first grade in 2009, and are now in their third FULL seasons of first grade.

That is 12 players in our team, all having to shoulder huge responsibilities. The amount of pressure falling on some of these guys for our performances is ridiculous.

Yes, some have underperformed, but for example, it isn't the fault of Masoe, Tasi or Taka that they weren't able to successfully replace Ryles. We just weren't adequately prepared for his departure.

The issue is the experienced players. Minichiello's error-prone clangers. The 'invisible' performances of SKD, Aubusson, Nuuausala and Anasta. Friend's lack of incisiveness in attack.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck: Legendary Rooster Anthony Minichiello looks set to be pushed sideways next year by the exciting teenage Kiwi Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. The 19-year-old made more metres than any other player in the Toyota Cup before being elevated to the top grade. In just his second senior game, Tuivasa-Sheck out-pointed Origin winger Brett Morris. He looks an exciting prospect for the future.
Has anyone told Mini the highlighted part? I think it should happen, whether or not it will, we'll see?!

Mini might be the new Anasta, next year.....clinging to his jumper for dear life.
I hope not, for his sake.
Father time has been knocking for some time & would be a pity to see him continue with more poor form.

I don't mind Roger being hyped if it means the media keep putting pressure on Mini's fullback position.

Father time is hammering the door down for Mini. I'm calling it, if he wasn't married to Bootface, he'd have retired last year.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck being groomed to takeover from Anthony Minichiello
by: Stuart Honeysett From: The Australian August 14, 2012

ALL Roger Tuivasa-Sheck wanted to do when he was a kid was play touch footy with his mates. All his father wanted him to do was work on his step.
"My dad used to put out all these cones and made me do all these drills while the boys were playing touch," the Sydney Roosters winger said yesterday."I was like 'I just want to go play'.
"I kept doing it constantly and it just showed when I started playing touch. I'd get that agile feeling."

Tuivasa-Sheck's fancy footwork is now on display in the NRL. The former New Zealand Schoolboy attributed the genes of his father, John, a former rugby union fullback, for getting him off to a head start, while the rest comes down to hard work.

"My dad got me in the habit of getting out and doing little drills and bouncing off both my legs and I've carried that throughout my life," Tuivasa-Sheck said.

..."Sometimes I do that before training and after training to try and keep the feel of it so when it comes to a game it feels natural."

Tuivasa-Sheck made his first grade debut three weeks ago against the Gold Coast. Coach Brian Smith revealed after his impressive performance against St George Illawarra two weeks ago that the players had been nagging him all season about giving him a start.

Perhaps the most telling statement about the rookie came on Saturday night against Parramatta when he was shifted to fullback for the final 20 minutes.

Veteran custodian Anthony Minichiello is off contract at the end of next season but Tuivasa-Sheck was not about to lay claim to his spot just yet. Minichiello has been a big influence on his career and he is respectful enough to wait his turn.

'Mini's looking good. He's in shape, he's going good," Tuivasa-Sheck said. "I'm probably just a back-up for him and if anything happens to him I'll be in.

"I think Brian Smith was just getting me ready just in case the opportunity comes."

Minichiello said he didn't read too much into being replaced on Saturday night. In his own words he was having a bad game and "the harder he tried the worse it got" _ but acknowledged he wouldn't be able to hold Tuivasa-Sheck out for long.

"I haven't spoken to Smithy about it at all but he's probably the future there at fullback," Minichiello said.

"We'll worry about that when the time comes. I think at some stage next year we will mix it up.

"It's good that it's coming from within without the Roosters having to buy someone."

''Kane Linnett: After making the trip north from the Roosters during the off-season, Linnett has taken his game to another level at the Cowboys. He's done an exceptional job of filling the void left by former international Willie Tonga, scoring 10 tries while making 20 linebreaks - the third most by any player in the competition.''

                          Well done Kane Linnett!!!

WTH does Kane Linnett have to do with RTS? You are beginning to act more like a troll every day Cowboymad. I used to be able to tolerate you. That's now starting to get very hard!
