STUART might be busy making plans for next year, but it remains unclear whether caretaker Parramatta coach Brad Arthur will be at his side.

Arthur still has a year to run on his contract, but recent negotiations for a new start elsewhere next year suggest he might be on the move.

We can confirm Arthur's management has spoken to the Roosters and Rabbitohs about taking him on board next year.

The Rabbitohs approach comes as no surprise seeing as Arthur and Michael Maguire worked together under Craig Bellamy in Melbourne.

But the Roosters approach is more intriguing because of the heightening degree of doubt over Brian Smith's coaching structure.

Stuart, meanwhile, has already hired Dean Pay to be one assistant coach and is believed to be eyeing Trent Barrett or Matt Parish.

He also has a high opinion of Cronulla's strength and conditioning guru Trent Elkin, who remains a free agent for next year.
That's alot clearer, thanks fletch. Typical telucrap, if they can link it to Easts they will, anything to destabilise us even more!

Were bringing in a coach from the Eels??
        Just because they beat us?

Lolol. First a policy that the only criteria for forwards is size not efficiency, the islander policy and now Brad Arthur

This is a lamer (more lame) plot than The Phantom Menace.

No, it would seem of late we have completely lost it!

Hi Fred - any updates on Smithys departure date?

Everyone within the club is stating he will be here next year to see out his contract.

As bad as that movie was it was better than that steaming pile of Sith number 3. The only joy I got out of that movie was that my daughter was completely oblivious to the fact Palpatine was the Sith lord and so when he pulled his hoodie on she screamed out top note in the pictuers "OH MY GOD HE'S THE EMPEROR!!! I was so envious of her.

                    Chook.

                      Asking excitably:
How good are the Roosters going under Smithy?

It's all good because Braiths goalkicking has been good straight from Smiths mouth.

Fred is concerned like alot of us who can see that as much as Smith knows about footy & is a lovely man he no longer has the passion or drive to win. He has caused an illusion that he only has a very young side & that the refs have cruelled our season, he has some like you who feed into it & there are others like myself & fred who dont.

Getting to the GF in year 1 was the worst thing for Smith because everyones expectations were exceded so from there on it made everyones expectations higher. Realistically the team should have kept on performing but with that lack lust discipline & Smith unable to generate spirit within the team the team has stalled big time. Getting a team to the GF should have a flow on effect the following year unless you are the Roosters or the Warriors. Can you see any similarities there?

Mickey - IF and i know its an if...but suppose we make another GF next year or go close...his coaching tenure would have to regarded as pretty successful... certainly our best since Stuarts reign.

I do think we can bite back pretty hard next year with the comings and goings of personnel plus the experience and hard lessons some talented guys have gained this year.

Just my thoughts and I can understand peoples vision being clouded by the past two years, and the resulting pessimism.

unfortunately, our results have gone backwards the longer smith has been here. Normally in years 2 and 3, a good coach is meant to have his team rising up the ladder and steadily improving. We have gone the other way. Those are the simple facts. You can blame refs, blame young players, blame the wind, blame kicking, blame this or blame that, its all spin to say otherwise.

I dont take much notice of a first year honeymoon year when the next 2 years have been pathetic. That only goes to show to me that we do have the players or squad to be a good team with good results. If anything, its a further indictment on smith that we were 11th and now 14th in his second and third years in charge.

You are just to positive for me Jack, I want what you believe trust me, but I just cant see things improving to any great heights next year regardless of new personal.

And Jack having the best coaching credentials at the club since Stuart is no great credit when you look at the contenders. Anderson soleless toward the Roosters & has a heart attack so he steps down after 1/2 a season then Freddy comes in who for me has been more successful than Smith considering his coaching experience. As caretaker coach we just missed the 8. In his 1st year as coach we came 4th, 2nd year last.

                              Smith, runners up 11th & 14th.
