Urgency, enthusiasm and basic tackling are key components regardless of the speed or level he is playing.

Say what you want about moga but on the wing so far he has a better strike rate in scoring tries than Perrett already. That match two weeks ago against the dragons, he was screaming instructions at Anasta when they were defending on the line and the very next play they went to exactly where moga had pointed to. I think with better inside men we will see him defend just fine. He also runs pretty hard at the defense. He makes plenty of metres when metres are hard to come by.

Not bagging the guy out, just saying he may need some time in Reggies. It's a big jump from touch footy in the u20's to go to 1st grade and defend against grown men with alot more experience, I thought thats what reserve grade was for.

It took barba 4seasons on and off to improve his defense and his ability to take a high ball. the same luxury seems not to be afforded to moga by chooks fans. sack him now and hopefully in two weeks we can start a tirade against RTS too.

Nothing to do with the fact we have the worst nrl team playing around them. we have lost to the two teams below us, and spoon or no spoon, we are the worst team in the comp.

Actually Milanga,we are that team that is a few years off maturing into the best.
Some people expect these kids to be overnight superstars.
How about all our kids get afforded this luxury too before scrap heaping them...

Said this at the start of the season, needs to work on his defence and struggles with his involvement rate. Every man and his dog was calling Smith an idiot for holding him back but he's ATLEAST one year premature.

Threads about him being a myth, flop, not trying etc. to ensue all off season. For his sake I hope he stays off the internet.

Forums like this is in the minority, I'm sure he will be shielded from most of this sort of stuff in his land of Facebook/Twitter or whatever he uses on the net.

Way to early to give a call on.

NYC to FG is boys to men.

Most of the boys with Islander backgrounds are Big Boys starting from the age of around 8, they excel because they are bigger than everyone else.
At around the age of 15 they start to play against each other through rep teams or school teams or by swapping teams but it is around this level alot of them drop out because they are big but they are fat. The ones who kick on some of them at this age are 95 to 110kg & they are not fat they are big & strong for there age.
Boys at this age are scouted boys like Tau Tau who come to Sydney & play for our SG Ball team. At this age guys like Tau Tau are still bigger & stronger than alot of other kids so they still are staring. From there they get picked to play U20's which does not have the defencive crushing defence with men in there late 20's early 30's who are harden firstgraders who are also very intimidating wanting to hurt you in evey tackle, so in U20's he was able to shine by scoring lots of tries.

Back to Tau Tau, the hype on the guy mainly here on the chookpen was huge, he gets picked to play FG way to early, he makes his debut when the club is at an all time low, he gets switched between positions & is still learning where he fits in, he has played about 15 FG games against most other players his size or bigger now, it can take some getting used too.

Doesn't help when you have to deal with Anasta and Minichiello in key positions.

I can't believe some of you guys are bagging out an 18 year old. You must be kidding. Give the kid some time for goddness sake. Would you rather he go and play somewhere else?

Moga, while indeed has talent, the kid needs to develop more in NYC
, he is miles away from NRL standard, at the moment, which is understandable, his defence is almost non existant, and I was surprised at his lack of pace, in trying to catch Blake Ferguson lastnight, ending up in a miserable attempt of an ankle tap.
I think we all put too much hype on him, because of the lack of a quality centre in firstgrade, he needs to get video's of Jamie Lyopns, without a doubt the best centre in the comp this year, and see how he reads a game, and sets up his supports, and generally other things he does in a game.
He will make it, I think, but he has a ton of work to do, in front of him.

please remember moga has been stifled by anasta and the shyt that dribbles from his mouth and his over agressive way of delivering on field plays(if any).

                                Is he too big?

If he dropped say 5kg he'd still be a large fellow, but heaps quicker, maybe. Dunno.

I hope he comes good 'cause he has talent.
